Question about Directv HR10-250 DTV Receiver

Power Issue? Hello. Last night we had a power outage (which has happened several times before). The DVR won't turn on...although I can hear the fan run, the power light won't come on. All other TV functions are normal (xbox, dvd player) Is my dvr unit shot? Thanks in advance, Chris

I have the same issue. Power went out for about an hour. I can hear the fan and HD running but no power light and no output to the TV. Is my unit done, or am I missing something really simple?

Unplug the satellite receiver from the electrical outlet for about 30 minutes and then try it again. If it still doesn't work, call DTV tech support to discuss having it replaced.

Why does my Dish Network DVR-625 DTV receiver sound like it is running all the time

The Dish 625 as with the other Dish DVR systems has a fan built into the back of the unit. The fan runs nearly all the time to keep the internal drive cool. Sometimes the fan sounds louder that normal. what I do from time to time is take my shop vac and or the small vac u you use to clean your computer. and clean the vents around the fan. I do this on my desk top computer also.. Hope this helps.

For the past two days, the DVR is unresponsive for about 2-3 hours in the morning. The unit seems to cycle on and off by itself every 30-40 seconds or so and I hear the fan running each time. I am not...

Hello, this is Luke, let me help you on your concern. A DVR which reboots by itself always means a power failure. Try to isolate the issue first by plugging in the DVR to a good power outlet. I suggest to plug it directly to a working wall outlet to make sure that it is not a power surge suppressor or a power strip device problem. Give the DVR at least 5 minutes to boot up. Allow it to do its own thing, and it should come on by itself. You will hear a spinning sound coming off it, which is normal. Within 5 minutes you should see a message on your tv screen. A good indicator that the receiver is on, are lights on it. Orange for mode, Green for TV1 And blue for TV2. You should have at least the orange light on, when the DVR on. Do a reset if it will not power on after 5 minutes, unplug the DISH receiver for 10 seconds and plug back in. Please have TV1 on during the whole process. Let me know if this help. Have a great day.

Today I get home and my dish dvr has a loud fan sound like a computer fan that wont stop running it doesnt matter if the dvr is on or off

Hello this is Nick Franta with DISH Network.

The DVR fan does typically runs most of the time the receiver is on (or recently turned off). Since the DVR controls the option of stopping live programming and skipping back it is always in use so the fan will continually run. If the sound continues non-stop for the next 48-72 hours we may want to send a replacement receiver for you. You can contact me at nick.franta@dishnetwork.com if it does continue to be troublesome.

Dvr not responding

There was a software update early this morning which caused your recvr to go to recovery mode until it downloads the new software which takes about 4 hours. Once this is done you should be just fine!

Fan and hard-drive run all night and make lots of noise, keeping me up. I am not recording anything at these times, and it is not doing it's normal updates, it just runs and runs, like it has share-ware...

it seriously sounds like a bad ball baring in the psu, possibly needs maintenance or replacement if it;ls a whining sound like metal on metal then its ball bearings but also can make several other sounds, like clicking and even tapping, while uncommon for fan bearings and hard drive to go bad at sometime it's possable. but the prob seems to be fan related

How do I know if my Directv HR22-100 HD receiver is dead?

one last thing you can do, if it doesnt work the dvr is dead. reset the dvr and wait for the hello screen and then the screen will go black. when it turns black, hold the down arrow (on the front of the dvr) and the record button for at least 5 secs. this will re-format the hard drive. if it doesnt work the dvr is dead

DVR 510 WON'T WORK ANYMORE

Did you have a power outage last night or lightning strike? If not unplug the receiver for approxiamately 30 seconds and plug it back in to the wall plate. Try to turn it on now. If it fails to power up it may indicate that the receptacle is bad or the receiver. Swap the plug from the receiver to the known good outlet the tv plugs into and try to power it up. If it fails the receiver is dead and you will need a new one. 510 are due to be discontinued with Dish so your local provider may not have one to replace yours with and you may be left with the option of upgrading the receiver, seeing if Customer Service can send you one out if you have a warranty program or buying one from a retailer or online.
Hope this helps you.
