Check out this site hundreds of owners of your model discussing every imaginable problem. Its actually pretty cool. You may find your answer, or be led to it from here. I'd want to know about this site if I owned this tv.

Hi, This seems to be complicated. Best would be to get it fixed by Philips itself.

It happens due to high voltage passed at that time when you were watching the TV .its normal this same problem is faced by many clients and because of this high voltage sometimes the mini tubelight like object on the main board gets blown off, it is called FUSE.you can easily locate it on the main board and replaceit and it is not very costly.you can get this fuse at local electronics shop or at
www.radioshack.com
and the other problem is due to high voltage the extra current passes in the circuit board.that is more then what is required.so the soldering joints on the tracks gets short circuit and the tv goes off.it also happens due to moisture collected on the board and gets short circuit.you can try to repair it if you know how to use multimeters and soldering irons properly.
or the final option call the technician the most safe option.as he will be having all the required parts to exchange.and he will be having all the proper instruments and tools for reparing.and you will also get a garranty of parts which he replaces.it will be negligible as per my knowledge.

thanks.

There is a short circuit somewhere in the power module that is causing the protection circuit to take over the power management. It could be something as simple as a broken solder (unusual these days, or something more complex)

I wouldn't recommend doing a DIY if you've never done this sort of thing before, as there are voltages inside a TV that can KILL. Its always best to call a repairman. At least now you know what to look for..

The protection circuit has detected a high enough current draw from some section of the tv that it has shut the set down completely. You might get it started again by pulling the power cord for 3 or 4 hours, but it will likely shut down again.

It means there is a defective section; there are many possibilities and only a tech who knows how to get inside and check the various sections can find out for sure.

The most common is the high voltage section; it is the section that draws the highest power in the set. But, it could be the deflection amplifiers, audio amplifier or main power supply sections, etc.

Try first unplugging it for half an hour, see if it restarts.

I think that is power supply switched off by hardware protection.

There is probably a problem with an internal part and tv had been switched in standby.

    See if unplugging power works.

If not the tv must be tested to find the fault.

If you decide to call a technician, or if the tv is under warranty, you can ring the number listed on the owner manual. I think Philips also sells extended guaranty, give them a call.

The LED normally blinks--indicates the digital/main board is powered up.

Look for other fuses----Boards for these are rather expensive, maybe too expensive.

Google the model number with the word boards or parts after it to research it.

finally got some help from customer service ----
the code flashing one then two red lights is for an upgrade of the software ---- you can go to their website and download a current fix to that problem onto a thumb drive----
\the power problem is caused by a bad power board--- you can replace them for any where from 130-330.00
dont need a service tech - take off cover and easy to replace---can find part on parts store.com for philips televisions --- used is about 130 and new about 330 -- used is a refurbished unit and works just as good as the new one

While I can't tell you what this particular code means I know from experience that power boards fail frequently commonly on those TVs. Do you hear a clicking of the power supply first on and then off after a few seconds?

There's a guy or a company on eBay that offers trade-in for faulty power supplys, you should check them out:
http://stores.shop.ebay.com/TechFetch

Search for 37'' Philips in the title or contact them to ask about it. Used to be $99 flat including return shipping.

I had the same thing - one long red flash followed by four short red flashes. Plugging and unplugging the power cord had no affect until I also unplugged all the cabled connections to the VCR and DVD player as well. Also, per the manufacturer's instructions, I unplugged the power cord from the surge protector and plugged it into the main wall outlet (which I tried first, but did not finally have success until I cycled the power cord unplugging process with all the cabled connections to the auxilliary devices unplugged as well).
