Kicker ZX300.1 shuts off after long play at high volume

I can't figure out why the amp shuts off after long play music at a high volume and when i turn the stereo off for about 5 minutes then turn it back on the amp works again.I'm not sure if it's a bad ground or what it could be it's in my trunk of my car so i think it would have enough ventaltion of air to keep it from overheating.Any advice would help please.

I got the same problem with my Kicker Kx550.3. I'm running 4 gauge for the ground (which ran to the frame) and positive (which ran straight to the battery). I'm running 2 kicker 10inchs (4olm) speakers in series off the sub channel. I have a stock head unit and just recently purchased a Phoenix Gold line driver to make sure my amp is getting enough volts. The fan is working properly and the gain and bass boost is all the way down. As soon as turn up the gain the amp goes into this protective mode. The same goes for the bass boost. What am I doing wrong or whats up with these kicker amps?

It's probably overheating and the thermal protection circuit is shutting the amp down.

If it has a fan, the fan may be defective. If I'm not mistaken, the fan only runs at high temperatures so if you check it, you need to do so when the bottom of the amp is almost too hot to touch.

If the fan is working properly, you may be driving too low of an ohm load.

If it's neither of those, get the amp up off of the mounting surface and use an external fan to move air across the bottom surface of the amp.

I have a kicker ix 500.4 hookd up to polk audio 6x9 and 6.5. if you play the system past about 25 volume the subs will keep playing but the speakers will cut out for a few seconds as if its hiting the

Make sure your frequency is no higher than 80 on the low and 120 on the high. Check speaker polarity with a AA battery(Speaker pops out when polarity is correct) Make sure the speaker crossovers are working properly. Check your ohm load when you connect the speakers together with a multimeter at the amp. Ohms that are too low = heat. See what your amp is rated for. After all that, turn the gain down all the way, turn up the volume to 25-28 and readjust the gains

Kicker SX900.2 turns on then says overload and shuts off

Sounds like one or more of the output transistors have gone and the amp protects itself from any further damage.

Amp playing speakers very quietly

it sounds like you have the polarity of the speakers hooked up wrong on one of them, try unhooking the new speakers you added and hook them back up one by one, when the music gets fuzzy then reverse the wires for that speaker, this should cure your problem.

how high did you turn the gain up and or the freq. mode most soun good at 90to 120hz. any higher some amps trip, and your speakers may not be able to handel the amp.

Amp cuts off...

Are the woofers single or dual voice coil?

How many ohms per coil?

If they are dual voice coil, are the coils for each speaker wired in series or parallel?

Are the speakers connected directly to the amp or are the speaker in series (one wire from each speaker connected to the amp?

Have you checked the DC voltage at the amp when you're playing it at high volume (where it cuts off)?
