It won't turn on

I tried turning on my sansa clip this morning and it won't turn on!
I've used it for a year, and this has never happened before!
I've also tried charging it again, but it won't turn on still on. It has cooled off, and it still doesn't turn on. What do I do? I can't afford to get a new one..

I will assume you have not changed anything (new computer or software, plugged in to someone else's computer, new audio added, etc.)
Before you go on, make sure you have backed up everything on your Clip.

  • Hard reset the Clip
  • Reformat the Clip in Windows explorer.
  • Update the firmware: http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/board/message?board.id=clip&thread.id=6720
If none of the above work, you probably have a hair barrette.

I was able to charge it fully last night but now it will not turn on this morning. It is a sansa clip i have tried holding the power up for a few minutes but still nothing.

I'm surprised it wouldn't turn on when plugged into external power. That would mean a different problem than a disconnected battery lead ... possibly a disconnected USB port lead, though then I would have expected that you'd be able to turn it on when not plugged in.

The screen is dim it is on the last song played it won't do anything won't turn off but won't play either, It worked fine this morning help please It is a sansa clip 2gb I've had it since Sept. 09

Sansa Clip won't turn off right? push up power button and hold it for 10 to 20 second, your device will turn off now.
After that, you should update your new firmware from sandisk forum, you should check Sansa Clip or Sansa Clip+ from the following web,

Good luck

My player will not turn on and all my files are empty

Are you using a Mac or PC?

If using PC, then try formatting your sansa clip. This will erase all the files on your mp3 player, but at least you'll be able to access it again. To format: Connect your player, go to "My computer", find your sansa clip in the list, then right click on the sansa clip drive. Click on "Format". Let it erase all your files.. then it should work! I had the same problem, and I got mine to work like this.

If you have a Mac, your computer might not be formatting it properly... try this:
If you have access to Windows, connect your player, launch WindowsMedia Player, and you'll be able to format it correctly...

See the sansa forum for more info: http://www.sansacommunity.com/forum/thread/11585/Sansa-Clip-not-working-anymore/

Good luck...Hope this helps!

Can turn on

The Sansa can sometimes break overnight if you sleep on it. This happened to me. I don't think this is really a solution, but if you bought it at BEST BUY, they have a 2-year guarantee for a new one.

Sorry,
Big Tony
