Question about Sanyo DVW-7200 DVD/VCR

Laser won't read?

When I put in a DVD, the player makes a clicking noise and won't read it. I took the top off and it looks like it might be the laser that is making the clicking noise when it moves back and forth to read the disc. I'm not sure that it is the laser though (I know next to nothing about these things).

Yes.its the problem of laser .it is called CCD lens that is the problem.it needs cleaning if dust is collected on the lens or replacement if the ccd is weak.so its just clicking and nor reading the discks.

Bush portable DVD player will not load my disc

Hello
Just put in an audio CD disc or an MP3 disc, and see whether it reads them or not. If the player can read these discs, and only refuses to read DVD discs, make sure that the laser pickup unit of it is faulty, and should be replaced with same type and number. If none of them reads, there are two possibilities, the first one is of laser pickup disc itself and the second one is the strip wire [a flat flexible cable connected between laser pickup unit and the mainboard of the player] is faulty. First replace the strip wire. If it helps you, it's OK. If not replace the laser pickup unit also. The strip wire can be bought from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town. When buying laser pickup unit, its number must be noted, and exact replacement should be done. Otherwise, it won't match with the main board. OK.

Dvd player wont read dvds

Hello Dickey396,

I'm sorry to hear about your problem. I will do the best I can to help you.

There is basically only one cause of a dvd player not reading the disc's and that would be the laser itself. Either the laser is dirty and can't read them or is broken.

If it starts making clicking noises as well then the laser assembly will not move on the track that guides it back and fourth.

First thing I would do is try to clean the laser using a len's cleaning disc. It looks like a cd but has some small soft brush's on it.Do not try any other method as you can damage the laser it is fragile. (You can buy one of these at most places that sell dvd players)

If this does not work then your next troubleshooting idea is to rule out if the laser assembly is unable to move on the track or not. Like I said it typically will start making a ticking noise or something similar.
If this is the case then you really can't do a whole lot. You can try taking the cover off the dvd player. Plug it in (dont touch anything inside it) and try playing a disc or something so you can watch for the problem. You will see gears skipping for example..You can then try to correct the problem ( Do so if you have some knowledge of electronics/mechanics )

Lastly the laser may have just went bad and does not work anymore in which you will have to replace it.

Post back if you have any further questions or comments please feel free to post back. Thank you for choosing Fixya!

The laser hits the disc and scratches

get a dvd player head cleaner, if that doesn't do it then you may have to get the eye repositioned.

DvD player wont load

The grinding could be the laser trying to read, so you could try a CD/DVD cleaner product> It also could be the laser is off track or damaged and you would need to have it repaired or buy a new player.

THERE ARE NO HEADS IN A DVD PLAYER! IT,S CALLED A
LASER. IF YOU TAKE THE UNIT APART DO NOT LOOK AT THE LASER IT WILL BLINED YOU BE CAREFULL WHEN YOU CLEAN IT. IFF WHEN YOU CLEAN IT IT STILL DON,T READ THE DVD,S IT MAY BE BAD. IF THATS THE CASE, IT,S TIME TO GET
ANOTHER DVD PLAYER. THE LASER COST TO MUCH TO REPLACE.

At loadup.

check your disc's that it's not putting a mark on them...

sounds like the laser is hitting the disk trying to get it to focus,
thus it's either the spindal is to low or not moving or the laser is week or not in the correct position
