Question about Mitsubishi WT-46809 46" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Mitsubishi wt-46809 Thanks for commenting on my subject. I did not feel any heat from the 2 convergence ics. Would it be one of the resistors around the convergence ics or do you know where i could start checking? Thanks for any help you can give me. jason_jwt_84

The vertical deflection IC if defective will cause the protection circut not to let the tv power up ,it has a thermal protection circut as well
here is the vertical deflection IC # la78045
and here is a link for the NTE equivalent part and specifications and pin layout
http://www.nteinc.com/specs/7200to7299/pdf/nte7209.pdf WARNING if you heat up any component to long or with to hot of an iron you can dammage the component and or the thermal protection circut
but I believe you will also have to replace the flyback (high voltage transformer ) with wire giving to much voltage

Mitsubishi WT-46809 Powers Off; Code 2-2

The 2 fuses you mentioned are associated with the convergence IC. If they are open then the convergence IC is either bad or you have a "cold" solder joint on the IC.

Installing STK392-570 IC's on a Mitsubishi WT-46809

tburg05,
Whoever told you that the WT46809 took two STK392-570 Ic for convergence amps were absolutely - 100% correct... The amps are located at position number Ic8c01 & Ic8c02 on the board. Very difficult to miss too they are about half the size of a pack of cigarettes and 1/4 as thick. They are Mitsubishi part number 267p150010 and after replacing them you want to also check all the low ohm resistors in that circuit for the yoke return.
If you order them don't get them from ebay or some other less than ignorant place, our industry is loaded with chineese knock-offs that would last tem minutes in your set before failing again... Personally I'd order them from Acme Enterprises out of Florida, 800-575-9833 and know that they were Sanyo originals that way.
BTW: If you replace these yourself make sure to use a generous portion of heat sink compound on the new installs for heat dissipation.

MITSUBISHI WT-46809 46" HDTV CONVERGENCE IC PROBLEM

On this set if it still turns on and you see a picture then the only thing you will need to replace are the ICs. Use heat sink compound on the new ICs before replacing the old ones. If you have a parts supplier in your town, then, use them. If not, Radio Shack will do in a pinch. The old ones may be stuck to the heat sink, so, a flat blade screwdriver may help with that. Use a clean soldering iron and good solder wick. Good Luck

Mitsubishi WT-46809 Intermittent color problem

I have the MITSUBISHI WT-46809 46" HDTV CONVERGENCE IC PROBLEM as well. I just ordered the STK392-570 IC for 7 bucks and I am going to attempt to switch them both out (two of them). I am getting the overstated "bow tie", "RBG separation" issue that you are talking about. I am going to attempt to de-solder the intergrated chips and put new ones in. I figure it is worth the shot, insted of paying 350-650 bucks to have some **** with average skills do the same I figure it is better to have this **** with average skills do it and keep the cash. I will let you know how it goes.... DJ
