Question about Ricoh Aficio 1035 Copier

Line on page using ARDF

A line appears on the lower right one-quarter of the page when the ARDF is used for automatic feed. The line is not present when not using the ARDF. I have cleaned the glass several times and cleaned the wheels on the ARDF. Problem persists.

Cleaned it three times. I even took it apart and cleaned both sides of the small glass and used canned air to blow out the area. Thought I had it. Then I notice that there is a 1 of 2 written in this corner of the page I was copying and on the copy it reads of 2. The 1 was missing. So the page is not lined up as it goes across the plate. That's apparently the problem. Wonder if I need to change the wheels. Any any additional help would be great. Thanks.

Good news!! This should be an easy fix.

If the line appears only when you are using the doc feeder, and it looks like a straight line that you have drawn with a ruller, then it is on the glass. Not the large glass where the copy lays, but the narrow glass. Make a copy using the ARDF, paying close attention to it's orientation (which side is up and which is down). Then, take the copy you made and lay it next to the narrow **** glass in exactly the same direction as it went through the feeder. Wherever your line is, there is something on the glass in that spot. Take your thumb and rub with a good bit of pressure in this spot. You might not see anything, but trust me, there is something there. It might be as small and transparent as a spot of ink. A flashlight will help. You might also try using rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth to clean it. Hope some of this helps,

Chad

Just ink line on right center of page on auto feed only

It would be nice to know what kind of printer this is!!!
Normally with that problem the glass has to be cleaned.
Clean the glass that is used by the Automatic Document Feeder.
Normally it is a thin strip of glass. It is dirty.

Line appears on copies when using the automatic feeder.

You have a piece of dirt or whiteout on the scanner glass. When the paper is moving by, it creates a "Line" if the paper is sitting still on the glass, it may be a dot or it may even use a different glass alltogether for ADF vs Paltten scanning.

Automatic feed gives a white line in copy or scan

Although this problem would normally show as a black line on the copy, it's quite possible that there is something white (i.e. a piece of tape or paper) stuck on the scanner where the page feed passes through. Clean this area carefully with a soft cloth.

My HP 1350 will not print cards/envelopes from the right side of the printer. They have to be loaded on the right but the printer keeps printing in the center.

Printing envelopes with an HP 1350:
If you use MS Word, select ENVELOPES. When address window appears, select OPTIONS on right > select PRINTING OPTIONS > select FEED METHOD option on far right (envelope placed on right of tray face down); select FACE DOWN; select FEED FROM UPPER TRAY. The only problem I have with this is that the address prints off in the lower quarter of the envelope rather than in the center of the envelope as we would write it manually. I am currently working on solving that problem.

lift the feed area and look at the small glass plate where the auto feed paper is actually scanned. That needs a good cleaning. Since the paper runs across it even a tiny little obstruction such as paper left from a paper jam or a dot of ink from that pen you used to unstick that last paper jam (maybe its just me??). That one dot turns into a line when the paper rolls across it. Clean well and the line will dissappear.

Black line in auto feed

If you lift the scanner cover, you should see an area on the right end of the platen glass marked at the edge with arrows as Read Area. This is the area used when documents are scanned through the auto feed. Make sure that the glass is completely clean in this area, as any dirt will show up as a line on the copied image.
