RCA DRC8312 DVD/VCR player is stuck on Hello

Hi,

The "H E L L O" message is part of the booting/initialization process of the built-in micro processor of the RCA DVD Recorder. Just like in a PC, it can also suffer from crashes/hangs.

Initially, pls try a reset. "disconnect it from all power and cable sources, leave off for 1/2 hour, then plug back in and hold the stand by buttons for the remote and on the machine at the same time"

If the above is not corrective, then you may have to consider a repair, probable areas to start checking would be:

• firmware, might need a re-flash or update;
• hard drive, might have bad sectors or require replacement.

Alternately, if you are not considering a DIY (do-it-yourself), you may have to re-evaluate the options since in some instances, cost and time of repair may no longer justify having the unit serviced.
