Use of TV code 1235 disables remote for directv receiver
I have 2 different RCA Directv universal remotes (one gray, one black/red) and a Philco/Magnavox TV. I know how to use the remotes to select and control different devices.
When I program either remote for the TV with the Automatic Search method or directly with code 1235, the remote can control the TV but the remote is no longer able to control the Directv receiver. I can not program the aux to control the receiver either.
If I reset the remote (by removing the batteries and holding the "1" key), the remote can again control the receiver, but of course it can not control the TV.
Am I missing something? Is there a way around this problem, or is it simply a case of "defective by design"? It is hard to understand why this should happen, particularly when automatic search mode is used!
PS - Using one RCA remote for the TV and the other for the receiver is not an OK answer 8-).

Have you tried doing this:
Press and hold the TV button on the remote till all 4 buttons light up and flash(make sure your TV is on). Once they flash, press the power button, then using the channel up button, point the remote at the TV and keep pressing it till the TV turns off. When it does, press the # sign and that will lock in the new found code.
yes go into kitchen open bin drop in these remotes are not meant for our tv/dvd/sat etc they are for a chinese system save your hair chuck it away sorry to say I got one of these oh dear !!!!!!!! you would be better getting a sky type copy remote from the two pound shop I did works great
If you contact DirecTV they will give you every RCA remote code they have for RCA. They can also telll you how to have the remote scan for every code that is stored in the remote you have. However, if your remote still won't control your TV, unfortunately there won't be anything you can do except use two remotes; one for the TV's power and volume; and the DirecTV remote for channels, guides, and everything else. Call DirecTV and choose tech support.

Im sorry but from our knowldge directv does notg have a radio wave remote. But all of directv remotes are universal they are compatibale with almost any other home entertainment device. Your directv manual should help you with this, and directv has moed to one standard remote for there equipment it is the RC64 they did to get away from some of there older models this remote wil run it all.
