Is there a wireless switch on my Gateway Desktop, and if so, where?

If your Gateway desktop has wireless it is probably automatically on without any need to turn it on. To turn it off you can disable the wireless network under the Network section of control panel....just "disable" the wireless network connection.

Gateway sx2865-ur11p can't find networks

Double check the laptops wireless switch. They often have a feature that allows you to completely disable/enable the wireless aspects of a laptop. Windows will not tell you it is disabled always and just tell you it can't detect any signals.

Wireless connection problem, I have a gateway T1631 laptop. I cant see any network within the range even though I place d next to the router, but I can connect to the internet through the ethernet drive.

I have seen this issue alot of times. Please make sure you wireless card is turned on. Sometimes the switch is on the front or the sides or you may have to push a function button + a wireless button. Take a look at you owners manual to be sure

My toshiba computer does not work with my wireless internet

what brand of wireless modem you have, what os are you using?did you switch on the wireless in your laptop? sometimes we overlook the most simple things, it happens to me..
ok, you have to configure your laptop to connect to your wireless modem, how? just connect first your laptop with wire to the wireless modem, does it work? if it does work you can take the default gateway ip add from your pc by typing IPCONFIG on the command prompt , then type it in your internet explorer address bar.

example default gateway..... 192.168.1.254

and supply the username and password, you can now configure your wireless connection wep/wpa configuration.

I have been using my laptop from work at home using my links router for about four months. my router is connected to my home computer. The cable company intenet service we used changed servers and my son...

Are you trying to connect the laptop using wireless? If so, you probably don't have the wireless settings from your router setup on the laptop. If you have a Windows based computer, click START => RUN.., type CMD, then hit OK. A black DOS window will appear. Type IPCONFIG and hit ENTER. You should see something like this:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.xxx
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

Open your web browser and type in the address you see next to "Default Gateway" (in this example it's 192.168.0.1). This *should* be your router. Hit ENTER and you should connect to your router's web interface. From here you can find your wireless settings and match them on your laptop.

Laptops also usually have off/on switches for the wireless feature. Check to make sure you have the wireless card actually turned on. That is a simple mistake people make.

I hope this somehow helps.
