Cruise control comes on and stays on for 2-3 minutes or until grade forces cruise to increase motor RPM's then just stops when cruise is set below 60 Mph. Above 60 Mph, cruise will simply not engage. Had a check engine light come on, tightened the gas cap as per dealership code check and check engine light went off. Any chance that an underlying code is present but does not cause the check engine light to turn on but prevents the cruise control from working correctly ? Thanks
Your dealership should have seen any underlying codes. Most Cruise controls I've worked on are used on the vehicles vacuum. that is where i would start, because on a grade your engine uses more vacuum pressure thus taking from some where else.
Testimonial: "Thanks, will check the vacuum lines to the cruise control to see if they are ok."
look in your owner's manual for the location of the cruse control fuse it is different from other fuses usually much larger

Most times when this happens with Envoys and Trailblazers, your PCM or computer is storing a check engine code, which will disable cruise control. Scan your vehicle with an OBDII scanner to see what code may be stored. Once the code is cleared, your cruise control will work again.

its in the fuse panel under the hood there should be a chart on the cover

It could be the speed sensor. When this goes out it can cause cruise control problems. it is mounted on the transmission.

FROM LUSTY KID:
Check your bulbs first, I have lost both headlights on my ford at once on account of the bulbs burning out at the same time. Same thing probably happen, you have one filament out. The lights can work, but if the filament for brake is burnt, you don't see brake lights.
As for the cruise control. Check fuse box first. If OK check vacuum hose to actuator in engine compartment for starters.
