Re: Coby 514 change region solution
Try these two. they seem like they'll work. Their both for this unit.
Turn unit on with remote NO DVD in the tray closed or opened might work Press TITLE then 1 then 9 Gray box will appear in the center of the screen with number 1 in the middle Using up/down arrows change to desired region (0 for REGION FREE)
1. Open the DVD tray 2. Press 'STOP' button on the remote control 3. Press '70' 4. Press 'MENU PBC' 5. Use the numeric keypad to select your region code number (0 – 6). 0 is all regions. 6. Press 'Enter'
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones). click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Good luck!

turn the player on open the tray via the remote press setup press volume +, volume - , volume +, volume - the regional code will appear in the top right (2 for uk) you can change this value by pressing the >> key (fast forward) to a value of 255 for multi region
worked on my tesco value tcdvd compact dvd player
you can also press the mute button after the vol up down sequence to get a hidden info screen (firmware etc)
Just bought THOMSON DV2137 in Australia (region 4) It plays Aus but not US. A small slip in the user's manual gave these (verbatim) instructions. UNFORTUNATELY it isn't working on my player."This unit has been set to play region 4 DVD discs. If you wish to use this unit outside of region 4 territory you can change the region setting by following the instructions below.1) Turn on the unit.2) Remove disc and press SETUP to enter SETUP menu.3) Press VOL+.VOL-,VOL+,VOL-, by order, then press MUTE to enter Region Code setting. [stays in SETUP menu]4) Press LEFT / RIGHT to choose between 1-4 or ALL region." Perhaps this will work for someone else or will trigger a clue.
I believe this works - I've yet to try it myself!
