My Panasonic DMR-E80H DVD recorder will not read blank DVD-R discs. It will read finalized discs, but not blank ones.

- when I put a blank DVD-R in the drive, the player tries to read it for 10-15 seconds and then stops. I then press the 'Functions' button on the remote and the following error message displays at the top of the page: 'Incompatible Disc'- markudell
