Question about Canon imageRUNNER 2200

Paper Jams and Black Streaks

We use our copier many times throughout the day, usually printing in excess of 20 copies each time. Over 75% of the time though, the paper gets jammed during the process. This happens at all time of the day (when it is first turned on until the last copy is made), and seems to be a hit or miss kind of thing. I have found the only time it does not happen is when using the stack bypass tray, but this does not hold as much paper as the 2 bottom trays. When it does get stuck the paper is either stuck in the feed tray or inside the copier itself under a metal plate thing.
We have also been experiencing thick black streaks across the top 3rd of each page. The screen has been cleaned, but inside the copier itself is smeared with ink (I think the last time someone changed the toner, they got a little carried away). I have read about cleaning the drum, but I am not sure where this is located and how to go about cleaning it.

I would suggest calling a professional on this one. The jamming problem you are describing is probably the rubber feed tires in each tray that pick the paper up. They need to be replaced. If you could get the parts, you MIGHT be able to do this...however....the other problem is much more involved. It could be that you only need a drum cleaning blade. This is the blade that cleans the unused toner from the drum. But it could also be the drum itself, the developer, or the fuser. And it sounds like it could use a good vacuuming on the inside. Do not clean the drum. If the drum is still in good shape, cleaning could change that. Drums are very prone to scratch. I would call a professional....tell him or her: the model of the copier, and to bring feed tires, a drum cleaning blade, and a vacuum.

Hope some of this helps,
Chad

Large paper printing

12 x 18 is the largest size paper that can be used on this copier. If anything larger is used the machine will jam. The copier uses a series of paper sensors to track and time the paper throughout the printing process. The max is 18 inches anything over that cuase the machine to jam.

Our copies are streaky like the drum is not clean.... help! There is black streaks on the top of all of our copies on our canon imagerunner 3300.

A) Black Streaks, Shadows, And Ghosting
Adjust the printer's lightness/darkness setting to 2-3 different variables and see if problem disappears. Look at the fusing assembly - is the roller torn or does it have any black buildup? Use caution!!! It gets HOT!

Try another toner also.

Black streaks on printout page

It sounds like excess toner has built up in or around the imaging drum. I would *carefully* remove the toner and drum (can be messy) and use some canned air to clean the inside out. If you are still getting these streaks, it might be time to get a new drum (DR 400) as you are supposed to replace the drum every 6 to 8 times you change the toner cartridge.
