Have a thorough virus scan of ur HDD. if it is OK, then the culprit is the connection. Check the cable and re-setup the connection process/procedure.also try to have an external MODEM or separate LAN card (whatever, with which u connect to the internet). Lastly I recommend u atleast 1GB of RAM.
