I can turn the board off now , but only if i hold the button down . I did disconnect the extra fans , I have the case open (so heat is not an issue) , the board has on board video because it is used for a touchscreen video game running Linux . But still is not out putting any video nor does the cpu seem to be running (it is cold) Any thing I could try ? THIS IS THE SECOND BOARD I GONE THROUGH .

I did check out the all the voltages from the pws , - ok . the board runs the cpu fan and has a lit green diode but no output of video nor is the cpu getting warm . is there a definitive way to test that the board is toast? I that you can wake up a board with the key board ?

I installed a nvidia geforce 7300 se and ran it for a while, it worked ok. I then switched to the video out from that card, and ran it on my tv. i then shut down and took out the card, pluged my monitor back into the mainboard and now i get absolutely nothing.

The system fans run and the power led is on. I can stop this by holding the power button for 5 secs.

I've tried putting the geforce back in on both monitor and video out, i've tried an a new graphics card, i've tried reseting the CLRTC, I've tried a new power supply.

    I still get nothing!

    Cheers for any help

To turn your computer off, hold the power button in for 6 to 8 seconds. I would disconnect the fans you installed to see if you are loading your power supply. If you install a video card take it out and in a couple time to clean the contact, with the power off.

Is your power led on. (Bottom right) Make sure your 12 volt connection is good. (the 4 wire connection on *********** board fron the power supply) It is near your video section. Double check your large power supply lead. Unplug it and put it back to be sure .

Im not sure but I would call asus or check it out on the internet. I have had very good luck with the customer service. I would double check the 4 wire power connection. I think it run the cpu.

Asus motherboard a8v-vm jumper setting motherbord on but cpu fan not ON

You do not use a jumper to run the CPU fan. There will be a small 3 or 4 pin plug near the CPU mount and you can plug the wire from the fan into that plug only. If the one on the motherboard has 3 pins and your plug has 4, you can use it anyway; just be sure the slot on the back of the plug matches the side of the one on the board.

No audio output devise is installed

Have you tried reinstalling motherboard drivers. Sound drivers should be part of motherboard drivers, so if you reinstall them everything should work fine. If not please post back here. I hope this helps, Yannick

Asus a8v-vm se fans always run

Hi jderek4, try this. locate the toggle switch on the back of the power supply. Just find it do not flip it.
Plug the PSU's power cord into the PC. Just as you got a good connection & the PC begains to power up move the toggle switch to it's other position. The PC should power off that very second.
If the PC does not shut off than the PSU is bad. If it did shut down wait a few seconds. Press the cases power on button. The PC should start to boot up. Let it finish loading. Click the start button & choose to shut down windows. The PC should shut off.
Yes? If not than your back to (bad power supply). Swap it out.

Mic issues

A8V-VM SE FRONT PANEL AUDIO does not work. The back panel audio speaker port works ok but not the MIC port. I have built over 100 pcs with different motherboards & procesors including several other Asus MoBo both Intel and AMD types. BIOS flas did not help. Asus tech support /knowledge base is useless to find answers.
If anyone has had this problem and solved it , please pot your answer.
Thanks
