Well i had the same problem with my old ttr 90 it smoked realy bad so i took off the top end an looked at the piston rings an they were fried so i bought a new piston rebuild kit an put it in an changed the oil an it ran like a champ an didnt smoke so thats what i think ur problem is

No fuel or no spark. Quick test: spray some starter fluid into air intake and try to start it. If it runs and then dies, you've got spark but no fuel. If the bike quit with no prior symptoms, check spark plug wire not knocked loose, fuel filter clogged. (You do have gas, right?)
The hitch part that fastens to your bike rear axle has 3 pieces, a dimpled washer which goes on first then the hitch plate and a pin that holds the trailer to the hitch. Take off the axle nut (15 mm wrench) install the dimpled washer it goes on with the 90 deg tang facing the bike wheel and in the channel so it can't rotate. Then put the hitch plate on, mine faced down for the correct height, line up the dimpled washer with the bumps on the hitch plate to locate it properly. reinstall the wheel nut and be sure to align the wheel so it runs straight and true (I oopsed on this the first time) then attach the trailer, it is a 90 deg hook-up then you simply put the the pin in and you are good to go. The unique hook-up makes it so smooth and dampened that you don't even know it's behind you. We really love ours!
It is most likely related to the rings, but running it would unstick them very fast if they were stuck. It's possible that sitting let rust develop in the cylinder walls and there may be some grooves in them now. They could also just be really worn cylinders. They make some oil conditioners which I wouldn't recommend on a car, but might work fine on a golf cart. I can't recall the name, but it was in a silver can, maybe called engine restore... You could always try that before resorting to a rebuild.
On most 4 stroke dirt bikes it is not the timing but the valves are out of adjustment. Usually they tightened up as they wear. If you have a manual on the bike it will show you how to check the valves.
check the exhaust manifold gasket so times they leak in to the hood are want ever and kills your intake air will not run up are take the seat off and run it if it run fine or better you found the problem
This might be obvious but I would change the oil and replace it with a high quality fully synthetic oil. If the bike was run low on oil or if the engine became super heated the viscosity of the existing oil is shot. I would also make sure the cooling fins on the head is clear of any mud or crud.Check the cooling fins that are under any type of cover, I have had mice pack these areas full of stuff that has caused overheating. Generally I would be sure that the bike is runnng at the correct temperature before taking anything apart such as setting the valves. When an engine gets hotter than it should be, the oil thins and this can cause knocking. Good Luck:)
