Question about Audio Players & Recorders
My Kenwood DP-R99 CD Player's disc 2 of 5 does not work. When the player goes to disc 2, EE is displayed. Also occurs when trying to play disc 2 manually. I do not see any obvious damage to the CD holder. happens with all CDs placed in Disc 2.
SOURCE: my kenwood dp-r99 reads ee
I just took my DP-R99 out of the closet and powered it up in my garage. After a short delay it reads EE. I took it apart and the belt that drives the laser head up to the CD and pressure disk to make it spin is slipping and never raising the head enough. It looks like the belt has stretched over the years. I am now going to look for a replacement belt and the belt that rotates the carriage since it is also stretched. I will let you know for sure when I install new belts. Hope this helps...

6 or 7 phillips head screws. 2 or 3 across the back and two on each side. Slide the top towards the back then up. You will be able to get to all CD's with the top off. Hope this helps
