Wifi card not reconized in device manager

I reformatted my computer and installed windows xp. I went to dell's website and downloaded all the drivers. I then checked device manager to make sure there were no yellow question marks or x's and there werent any. I then went to network adapters and I only see 1394 adapter and broadcom 440x 10/100 intergraded controller. I noticed a lot of threads saying go to device manager click network adapters and uninstall wifi card driver... The problem is the wifi card is not there. I have bought a new wifi card to see if it will reconize that one but it still wont. I have tried everything but cant find a solution. my computer acutally is a e1405 pc notebook. Please please help this is driving me crazy.

While installing my wireless driver in my dell vostro 1015 laptop i face an error " QMI module not exist? " any help?

On a dell they have either a hardware switch or a ALT-? key combination to turn the wireless on, normally it's a hw switch on the front or one of the sides with an antenna symbol. Look at the color of your ALT key and then look for the Antenna symbol or wifi symbol, Either of them should toggle the power to the wifi card.
also you can hit the windows key and look on the right side of the pop-up and find the computer link, right click on it and open properties then Device Manager, look for anything with a Yellow Triangle on it It may say Unknown Network adapter, right click on it and select properties, and then the driver tab, click update driver and explore and find the C:\Dell\drivers or c:\drivers directory and reload your wifi driver. Good Luck

Afer i reformat my lenevo 3000 g430 i can't connect anymore to a wifi connection

Hi Welcome to FixYa!
Have you already installed the drivers for your computer? If not yet, it could be the reason why you are not able to use your wifi. Follow these steps so that you could know what to do next:
1)check the device manager in Windows: A)if you are using Windows 7 or Vista: -click on Start, then on the searchbox, kindly search for Device Manager and open it. You should have something like this: mondimondz_1.png
B)if you are using Windows XP: click on start>run>type devmgmt.msc and it will open the device manager Window.
2)If you will find a category that says Other Devices, kindly look for a item that says "Network Controller" if you find it, it means that the Wifi adapter on the comptuer is not yet installed. All you need to do is insert the drivers disc CD if one came with the computer when you bought it. If not, you could try connecting the laptop to the modem directly using a cable and download the driver from Lenovo's support website:

3)If you still cannot connect with a direct connection, the Ethernet adapter could have been not yet installed also. You could also check it on the Device Manager window and look for Ethernet Controller under Other Devices. or check the category Network Adapters and see if the Ethernet Adapter is installed.
4)if the drivers are already installed, you can try contacting your Internet Provider or call Lenovo's Technical Support Team.
hope this would be a big help!

I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop. I recently reformatted it. Now It does not recognize wireless connections. I cant connect to the net Can anyone help?

When you reinstalled Windows, Windows probably did not include a driver for your wireless adapter. A driver tells Windows how to interface with a certain device, such as a wireless adapter. You can easily download the driver online and install it. Once installed, restart the computer and you should again have the ability to connect to wireless networks.
I've gone to the Dell website for you and found the correct driver. Please visit this link:
On that website, I would first try downloading the first driver on the list. If that doesn't enable your wireless after a reboot, try the other ones. After the correct driver is installed, your wireless will be working again.

Cant get any drivers to work on my dell after i reformatted the drive and re installed windows xp. I have a dell inspiron E1505 and the only driver I could get to work from dells website is the nVidia...

There are several different drivers listed for each category under your laptop model and Windows XP:

You will not be able to install all of these drivers. You need to pinpoint which items your laptop came with. To do so, you may be able to look at your manual or order history and determine what exactly went into your computer.

In order to configure TCP/IP,you must install and enable a network adapter card, Windows 7, Vostro Dell A840

Not much to go on with your question. Windows 7 does not see your network adapter(s). Did you just upgrade? If so, you might need to go back to Dell website and download the Win7 drivers for you laptop. On that laptop you should see 3 network interfaces for WiFi, Ethernet, and the modem, and possibly a 4th for bluetooth. Dell is pretty good with downloads - just type in your service code at their support site, and they will only show you what you might need for your computer.

After a crash I reformatted the hard drive and now it won't conne

Check to see if the software drivers are loaded for the network adaptor. Go to "Device Manager" and look if any yellow or red alerts are being displayed next to network adaptors. Double click on the network adaptor and a window will pop open telling you about the error. You can access the "Device Manager" by going to the 'Control Panel", "Administrative Tools", "Computer Management" and select "Device Manager" located in the left side column, (assumption – laptop has Windows XP).
If you need drivers, go to and select "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have the proper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed return to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag", (serial number) of the computer. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for every customer's computer they sell.
