Use a safety pin to pry it up. It is supposed to be in tight to keep it from popping out in a jolt. Also check to see if there is any metal clip on top holding it in place. If there is, make sure you pry up on the opposite side of the battery.

My Nextbook next8p12 Has 3 wires running to the battery red/black/white. All the replacement batteries I see online only have the red and black. Will they work?

They will, but i don't know if i would trust them. The white wire is the thermistor, its what the charger inside uses to monitor the battery temperature. So in case something goes wrong with the charging it can sense the overheating and stop trying to charge the battery. Will the battery work, of course, unless the Nextbook requires the temp sensor input to allow the battery to be used, some devices won't recognize a battery without a temp sensor input and will say there is a battery fault because its missing, and some will work with it but may or may not even charge it because it doesn't see the temp input when it tries to charge. Best suggestion i could make is try it, but i also would suggest you get a proper battery for it, lithium batteries are scary enough when they fail, not having that safety could be even worst.

the battery is old and the chemistry has changed. you need to purchase another one, or change the actual battery cells inside.

Fresh out of the package I have 2 batteries not working.

check them with a multimeter. If they have the designated voltage then look elsewhere for the problem. Check the way they are put in. check that the negative actually touches the battery outer case

How to replace the remote battery

There is usually a nitch along the rim of the remote. Use a small flathead screwdriver to gentally pry open the case. If there is no nitch on the rim then try slidding one of the top covers with just slight pressure. Vuala can now replace the battery.

Hello sellagiri

You are right. These batteries should last years.
Your problem generally indicate faulty main board. there is a leakage that drains the battery.

Check the assembly of the computer. Make sure the main board is properly assembled and soldering and joints are not in contact with the case, there is no wires from the case touching the battery or its contacts, remove the battery and clean its housing.

Other than these it usually means faulty board.

Good luck and thank you for using Fixya

HOW CAN I CHECK IF CR 2032 BATTERY IS GOOD

You need to either try it in another appliance to see if it works or use a button battery tester like the one at http://www.amazon.com/Watch-Battery-Tester-Button-Cell/dp/B000OVHUHG which tests the most common batteries including button type.

The battery tester is the best way of checking as it will let you know how full the battery is so you can judge how long its likely to last.

The cost to ship lead-acid batteries is really cost-prohibitive. I suggest going to your local Batteries-Plus store for the replacement.

How do I put in a CR 2032 battery. Is it the side with words facing you or not

It really depends on what you are attempting to place the batteries in. However, as a general rule the small side, which is the positive side (+), faces downward. It will either work or it won't should you place it in the incorrect way.
