Why did my phone erase my recorded message and substituted the default recorded message and started hanging up after two rings?

It is likely a power interruption caused your telephone to revert to default settings. It is annoying because you have to set it up all over again including your answer message.

Voicemail button redirected to phone line

If, perhaps you mean "it rings another one of our..." Phone Extensions, then just press the illuminated red message button, go to the ringing phone (the extension number will appear on your phone if you have a display phone) and answer the call by lifting the phone off-hook, then hang it up. Now the message button on your phone will work normally. What happened was that the user of the phone that was ringing when you pressed the button had inadvertently left you a "message waiting" after they called your phone on the intercom. By pressing the message button on your phone, you returned their call, and by answering the return call, you cleared the message waiting indication on your phone. There can be more than one message waiting, so if the light is still on after you clear the first call, using the procedure above, do it again and again until each call is returned, answered and cleared.

Why won't the answering machine, when set to 'answer on' not record a message?.It goes to voice mail. Is my machine defective?

Maybe the answering machine is set to pick up at say"5 rings" and the voice mail is set to pickup at "4 rings" . Change the voicemail setting to a higher setting than the answering machine. That may be the problem.

Panasonic number ring

Answering system settings
Number of rings before the unit answers a call. You can change the number of times the phone rings "Ring count"before the unit answers calls. You can select 2 to 7 rings, or "Toll saver".The default setting is "4 rings"."Toll saver": The unit's answering system answers at the end of the 2nd ring when new messages have been recorded, or at the end of the 5th ring when there are no new messages. If you call your phone from outside to listen to new messages (page 34), you know that there are no new messages when the phone rings for the 3rd time. You can then hang up without being charged for the call.

I recently got this old "Panasonic Easa Phone KX-T2835" from a thrift store and my phone only rings twice before my answering machine picks up. How can I make my phone wait till 4 or 5 rings before it...

Have you tried erasing all the (incoming) messages on the machine? Does that let it ring the full 4-ring-cycle before it picks up?

It's been years since I owned one of these, but there should be a switch (on the side of the unit?) for a feature called "toll saver" If you find this, switch it off.

The idea was from the days of payphones -- if the machine had no messages, it would ring 4 times before it picks up. If there were messages, it would pick up after one ring (or sometimes two)

If you were out on the town and wanted to check your messages, you'd put your dime in a payphone and call home. If it rang three times, you can hang up the payphone and get your dime back, knowing there's no message to check.

Have a new i9 3G phone, unlocked and every day at 3am I receive a message from Network Msg stating that: Please check the destination telephone number and try again. Note all national UK mobile numbers now...

The best thing to do is ring your network supplier. The message will have come from them.

They may have to change some of your settings.
They will also update your software.

Hope it helps!

Answering system records message after hang up

One thing to try and take note of is when the message does pick up on the "two ring" message present part do you hear on your side two full rings before the pick up?
It may be that the primary ring starts on the home side as does happen sometimes with VOIP service. If you are only hearing 1 or 1 1/2 rings before the message picks up then you might try hanging up after the second full ring thus knowing no messages are present and it should overcome your problem.

Toll saver

Toll Saver is a feature that changes when the phone answers if you have voice mail messages. If you have no messages, the phone answers after the 4th ring. If you have messages it answers after the 2nd.

If you call in and you hear a 3rd ring, hang up.

Phone ringing after hang up a few second

You may have unopened voice messages waiting to be answered. If you have never set up voice message service you may need to contact your phone service provider & have them disable the service they sometimes give you as a default. Contact them anyway they will know what to do.
