Fax works easiest via a dial-up modem though there are programs that allow broadband facsimile transmission. Use more words and you get better answers. ~Steve

Red alert ligth won't go out

Did you check your printer queue tab. When I was having trouble getting receipts to print the print request would go to the Printer Queue and upon opening the tab I saw my print jobs being held there. Once I deleted them the Red Light went out. Check out your user manual as I believe there is a section that tells you how to troubleshoot the lights...as some issue relate to flashing lights and other relate to solid lights. Hope this helps

Cisco AS5300 gateway FoIP problem

Once I had a problem with Ethernet auto negotiation, fax-es and AS5300. all links in fax IP path had to be set to fixed configuration (ex. 100 Mbps full-duplex).

Cisco equipment could not autonegotiate link speed by itself (VG248, C3550 and AS5350), so it tried every few seconds to re-negotiate ethernet link speed, and those extra packets broke fax transmision over IP. Voice worked OK, at the same time.

Hope it helps..

Sending fax

I am imagining that you already looked up 'fax' on Wikipedia.com and since this is a technical support site I will get right to brass tacks. You must have a modem. Go to Start> Control Panel>Printers and choose 'Add a printer'. A fax connection is essentially just another printer. Sorry if I got too wordy on you. Steve

Initialization failed - Unable to acquire TWAIN-compliant device

Hello,

I have seen your message stating that "Initialization failed - Unable to acquire TWAIN-compliant device" error is received when trying to connect USB-Parallel type to your Laptop.

Well,  Printer  Panasonic UF4100, recommends to use only " Printer/Scanner Interface as Bi-directional Parallel (IEEE1284) " means you need to use Parallel cable to connect Printer to the Computer/Notebook.  You may receive some communication error messages if you are using a  "PORT REPLICATOR CABLE"( USB TO PARALLEL connector).  The error message that you have received is related to the communication error. Futher, if you use same USB- Parallel cable for long time the Printer Hardware functionality might go bad, since Printer memory gets confused and will not read or detect the Cable , since it is not a cable to use  mentioned by Panasonic Manufacturer.

Let me tell you, general functionality of Printer like Printing would work even if you use USB-Parallel cable. But it is not a case with Scanner and Fax functionality.

Hence, I recommend you to use only Parallel cable to connect your Printer to the Laptops.

I hope that this will resolve the issue for you.

You can email me at thumuvikram@rediffmail.com if you need further assistance.

Bye.
