I received a toshiba 46hm95 3 monthes ago as a gift from my wife and her mother. GREAT...but now, after this short time it's already become so dime that it's a pain to watch. Is there knownunknown to me...problem with these models bulbs going out that quickly? If so what's the best source for a replacement.
They bought the set at best buy and did not get the bs "service contract" so they wont give me the time of day!!!
Thanx for the responses, Toshiba is sending out a new mercury light as soon has they have it in stock. I hope this one last longer and I'll make sure to turn OFF the dynamic brightness. Seems this can be a problem.
regards

All model HDTVs with mercury-vapour lamps have problems with premature failure. Not all lamps do it, but it's a crap-shoot. Some go in a few hours, others last 10000 hours or more.
I think your set has a one-year warrantee from Toshiba. They should give you a new lamp. Carefully follow the instructions to replace it yourself.
