Question about Maxtor Hard Drive
I purchased last week Maxtor one touch 4 mini 250 GB hard disk, the same was not been detected on my laptop, I am having Windows XP SP3, the plug and play was not able to detect the same whenever its connected to the laptop, after changing the settings of USB services, I was able to detect this hard disk, even after detecting its not holding any good, as it keep on either blinking and beeping or else only beeping, while opening with in 5 minutes it gives an error Windows relay write failed....and then it quits...I tried formatting this thru disk management and also to pre installed drivers but unable to get 100% format. Please advice as what to do next except throwing in the waste basket :-)
Try plugging it in and then clicking on it in the computer section
right click on the properties tab and then click on compatibility
click in the tick box and highlight win xp
apply and ok
do not throw ii in the the bin as it can be used as a hard drive in any computer or being mini , in any laptop unit

You cannot download drivers/software for the Maxtor Mini at the above URL. When you select the Maxtor Mini, you're redirected to a contact form you have to fill out just to get the software. Pretty lame on Seagate's part! I'll think twice before purchasing anything else from them.

I have a disk that worked for me and I am running windows xp. I also have the website address that is supposed to have the 98 drivers which could work perhaps. http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=Maxtor_OneTouch_Drive_USB/Win98SE_Driver&vgnextoid=b07d8b9c4a8ff010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD
Guess you could try them first and if that doesnt work I could perhaps make a backup of the disk/package/mail/ worth anything?

find a DR software to recover the data,if the data is very important, then you'd better go to a DR company.
Meanwhile,if you want to use the dr tool, you can use the HD Doctor for Maxtor, but u will spend some money

I have one as well running along with a PC. PCs and Macs are formatted differently. Go to www.maxtor.com and create a search for reformatting from a Mac to a PC with your Operating System in the search as well. Should have no problems after doing that. It will tell you and or show you where and how to reformat.
I’m happy to help further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/phillip_293d34ebcf028794
