I have problems with my hp web camara it freeze it a lot on messanger any help

Hi,
If your web camera freezes check your Windows Device Manager and see if the hardware is recognized and installed properly. It might be that the hardware is recognized as a camera, but the right drivers are not installed. The yellow explanation mark will indicate a problem. If the device is not recognized in Windows XP, it will be listed under Other Devices
In either case you can try to update the drivers. Right-click the device, and in the pop up menu select Update Driver Software. Then follow the instructions on screen, but make sure you allow Windows to search the web for updated drivers. In case no driver for the web cam can be found, you can try a third party driver finding program that scans your PC for installed hardware and allows you to install missing drivers.
If this fails, the next step would be to un install the software that came with your web cam. Use the Add or Remove Programs feature in the Control Panel. If that does not work you can use a third party un installer. After un installing the software, restart your PC and then reinstall the web cam software. In most cases this will solve the problems. Depending on the software, you might need to unplug your web cam during the software installation.
If the drivers and web cam software are correctly installed, and you still it freezes, there can be a problem with the program settings. Most chat and meeting software have a configuration option to select the video source for the web cam feature. If you have multiple devices that qualify for video, you might need to select your web cam device as the source for the web cam feature in that program. Some web cams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the web cam if things are right. But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quick time software are installed and up to date. But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including web cams, use DirectX for video processing. Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c – Windows Vista: DirectX 10).

Thank you !!

Hi i have a logitech quick cam for notebooks pro

Many webcams can only be accessed by one software package at a time. You have another software package that is currently using that cam, even if you aren't actively using that software. Do you have an Instant Message software application running? Or a video capture software? Check the TSRs (Terminate and Stay Resident) applications in your lower-right corner (assuming you're using a Windows software package), and turn off anything you don't need. Then try the webcam again.

Webcam = Not working

When you installed the drivers, did you do so after loggin in as ADMINISTRATOR?? This is vital otherwise it will not work. Also a quote from the manual goes like this quote -"Exit the “Found New Hardware Wizard” by hitting the cancel button. Unplug the VGA webcam
from the USB. Insert the software CD into the drive tray. Follow the software installation
instructions. Once all software is installed (direct X, HP Web Cam drivers, ArcSoft
VideoImpression, ArcSoft Photo Impression), close the HP Webcam window and RESTART the
PC. After restarting the PC, plug in the VGA Webcam and run ArcSoft Video Impression to
capture a new video." unquote.
Hope this helps..................sodeep
