SOURCE: Canon Pixma MP140

oook --
As a technician, I have worked on tons of printers. This particular error had stumped me for a while, but I finally found the cause. As others had pointed out before, it can have alot to do with some obstruction in the print path, the gears, or ink on the clear plastic encoder strip. You're on the right track - I found the the purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) was not lubricated well enough from factory. If you lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps) the mechanism can now slide more freely, and the unit can park the head properly without giving you the dreaded head homing error 5100 (or E-2-2 on the LCD display) Keep in mind that this repair will probably require you to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism. There are two screws behind the printer, and two in front for each corrosponding side panel (the front screws are behind the grey front panel of the printer - open the top cover to see the clips which hold the front cover on) Hope this helps some of you out.

SOURCE: I have a Canon Selphy

If the rollers are working, but its not pulling the paper in, I would suggest, as suggested in another thread, to 'rough up' the rollers in an attempt to give them better grip and maybe a bit more circumference.

SOURCE: printer says there is a paper jam

Hello there There is some thing stoping it moving so better try this.
You may not see a paper jam.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Also clean The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, Caonon and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.

That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

How to fix print problems on Epson All-In-One Inkjet printers.

When your Epson Inkjet printer outputs paper with nothing printed on it you have one of two problems. Either your cartridge is empty and needs replaced or your driver is corrupt and needs reinstalled.

If the cartridge has been replaced you probably do not have a catridge issue.

To establish which problem you have print a test page from the printer. You need to hold down the cartridge button while turning the unit on. This works on most Epson printers but if it does not work for you, try holding down the next button while turning on and keep changing the button you hold down until the unit prints a test page. You will be able to tell when you have the correct button as the lights will continue flashing until the page prints.

If the test page prints OK, you need to install a new driver. You can do it with the disc that came with the unit but it would be better to go to the Epson website and download the newest driver. They have probably corrected what caused your problem in the first place. The website and driver is located at http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/SupportIndex.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&expansion=0100000 .

Using their search engine plug in your model number and follow the download instructions. Install the software, shutdown and restart your computer and you should be back in business. If during the test page print you get nothing on the paper, I would replace the inkjet cartridge.

Sad to hear that mate. I've still got mine and it works like a dream. I can leave it for years without printing anything and after a few head cleans it still prints like new.

Try and get another one because its that good and replacement ink costs

Paper jam indicated but I opened the back and can't see any paper

Sometimes while clearing the jam (if there was one) you may leave a bit of paper left behind which obscures a sensor causing it to think there is paper still in the paper path, or sometimes even paper dust can do it. Try a bottle of compressed air and blow the path out very well. Get a bright light (good flashlight) and very throroughly eyeball the paper path for any "foreign" objects. Most of the sensors are either a microswitch, or more commonly a light sensor (LED and photocell) which can easily become obscured or dirty with even a tiny bit of crud! also reload the printer drivers as the printer is not beem able to read that new cartridge has been installed. and dont just directly install the cartridge .install it through a procedure.as mentioned in the printer properties .---ink cartridge replacement option----- as canon printers do very much drama to detect some cartridges and sometime just works fine.

HP PSC 2210 All-In-One InkJet Printer Start Up Problem

Step1
If you're setting up the printer or changing the toner or ink cartridge for the first time, double-check the instructions to make sure that you installed the cartridge correctly and, for new printers, that you have removed all the pieces of cardboard or plastic packing material.
Step
2
Check to see whether paper is feeding from the paper tray. If it's not leaving the tray at all, try feeding a page manually (if that's an option) or using a different paper tray. Sometimes a problem with the tray can be traced to a broken spring or a piece of plastic.
Step
3
If paper is feeding from the tray but jamming in the printer, examine where the jam is occurring and then inspect the printer carefully to see if you can find what is causing the problem. A piece of paper, for instance, might be blocking the paper path.
Step
4
If paper is feeding through the printer but coming out blank, check to see whether the printer is out of toner or ink. A defective toner or ink cartridge could be the problem.
