    Hi,

Could you give me the short model number of the laptop, you can use the following webesite to download the drivers using the short model number

    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/i...

If the above also doesnot work , then you would have to manually search for the following files on the toshiba website and download the same

Sound drivers (RealTek High definition audio driver):
Download 'Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003(32/64 bits) Driver only (ZIP file)' version R1.57, weblink as follows:
    http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/down...

    Chipset drivers:
    Download 'csutil-sa100-psaa-xp-7211006.zip'

    Video drivers:
    Download 'display-sa100-psaa-xp-141824436.zip'

    Wireless LAN drivers (Atheros):
    Download 'wlesslan-sa100-psaa-xp-412111i129.zip'

RJ45 LAN connection (Intel PRO/100 VE):
Search on Intel's website and download 'PRO2KXP.exe' respective to your search.

    Modem:
    Download 'mdm-xp-sm2162ald04-gb.zip'

    Touchpad:
    Download 'tpdrv-sa100-psaa-xp-8292.zip'

This is an automated G520 Vista drivers recovery cd. The G520 drivers are supplied in a special windows friendly format. This means that your eMachines G520 Vista Laptop will automatically find and install all the drivers for your system, with hardly any user interaction. If you have installed a new windows operating system and half of your Laptop just wont work (with errors like no sound no internet or bad graphics) then this is exactly what this CD has been designed to fix repair. You can also use this CD Disk If you just need to return your software broken Laptop back to the factory setup. There are also a lot of utilities and resources on this cd that you would of found on your Laptop when it was new in its original new condition.

Normally you would need to independently download and install each driver and often enough it will be the wrong one! If you already have other drivers installed it can get very over complicated with device drivers not loading showing errors (like code 10 device cannot start) To make matters worse you end up with allot of older and newer revisions of driver too.

With this driver recovery system all you need to do is wait until the Laptop can not find the device driver it is looking for and put this CD DVD in. Sometimes you may need to select the DVD CD as the location for your driver. That really is all there is to it.

I dont have recovery CD for my laptop

Being that you don't have the recovery cd, I would probably do the following (in this order):

1. Do a System Recovery (go to Start > Help and Support > type in System Recovery in the search field > look for Run System Recovery Wizard)

2. If the above didn't fix my problem, then I would try to determine if it was a hardware issue (bad RAM, fan, processor, etc) or if it was definitely a software issue (operating system is kaput, virus, etc...)

3. Contact Toshiba and find out how much it would cost to get another Recovery CD.

4. If it costed more than $100 dollars (and you're a little computer inclined) then I would buy myself a fresh Windows XP Home Edition OEM version (runs about $90 if not less)

BUT... before sticking in that cd, make sure that you download the device drivers or back up your device drivers for your system (network driver, graphics drivers, chipset drivers).. once you've backed up those things onto a cd or disk, then I would go ahead and put in a fresh copy of Windows XP and reformat the computer.

Once thats done, you can put in that back cd you made and have the computer find the drivers on your disc when it says "New Hardware Found..." and just make sure you have it search your disc drive.

IF it doesn't cost much to get a Recover CD from Toshiba, then by all means, get it and put that bad boy in. Of course, when formatting anything, back up your files that you need (address book, documents, etc) and then reformat with the CD.

Restoring factory settings

You can restore your laptop using a regular windows cd, formatting the disk and reinstalling the OS again. After that all the devices which the drivers are not included on the windows CD like for example; network, sound, video, you can download them from the manufacturer website and complete in this way the process to restore your laptop to zero.

Trying to reinstall xp with recovery discs, now i cant get it to boot

If you can boot go to safe mode using F8, see if you can do system restore from start/programs/accessories/system tools.

If you cannot boot, or system restore does not work you need to reinstall Windows, either using recovery CD from Acer, or generic Windows disk. In last case you will need to reinstall driver after installing windows.
If you do not format hard disk or delete partition, you will be able to recover your data (documents, pictures, music, desktop contacts etc) after installing Windows.

Always better than incinerating your Acer.

My laptop

If you have an operating system installer use it and format your laptop first. Then proceed in installing the new os.Download the specific drivers needed for your laptop.Remember that before you reinstall you must first know what these specific drivers are..You can see it from the device manager. Click my computer--->left click----->properties-------->hardware tab---->device manager. Or simply type the model of your laptop and search for its drivers from the net. Another best option is buy a recovery cd from toshiba.
