Question about Air Tools & Compressors

1 Answer

Air Compressor, low pressure

I have a Ingersol Rand Rand 4000 compressor. I have had it for years and use it occassionally. I started it today and the pressure gage goes only up to 40 psi. I need atleast 75 to 110 PSI to use the nail gun that I recently purchased. What can I do to fix the problem

Does the compressor keep running all the time but never gets above 40 or does it turn off at 40?
if it is turning off at 40 I would try using another gauge just to be sure it is 40psi, and if that is the case then you probably have a faulty pressure switch, if the compressor is constantly runnign but won't get past the 40psi then you may have a worn out compressor, check the oil for either a low level or if the oil is dirty, if it is you may just need to drain and refill but if that doesn't fix the issue then you will need to rebuild the compressor

What cuases high a/e discharge fault on ingersol rand air compressor

Dirty coolers are always associated with high discharge temps, always make sure your coolers are clean
compressor oil filters being clogged can also raise your temp n cause the unit to over heat, and on the much bigger machines if the compressor oil pump fails then you will have severe over heating as the oil flow to the cooler is assisted by the pump!!things like regulating pressure should always be adjusted to the machines specs so it doesn't over pressurize n put load on your airend while the engine is at idle.

Air compressor starts and builds air then idles and when it goes to rebuild air it dies

if your saying it wont recover from idle down mode back to full speed , this might be the IR fuel pump/regulator problem (a pressure gauge will need to be added to verify this ) , if so save your money go with an aftermarket pump it'll last longer

What does alarm start fault mean on the control panel on a ingersoll rand ssr ep-30 air compressor

I use to start up a 25 HP Ingersol screw type compressor. The only alarms I got were from power spikes which just needed the reset button to be pushed, then the on button - and the low oil sensor would shut it down and give an alarm when the tank was about half way down. They will blow up with no oil so there is a saftey margin on oil level.

I am changing from 460 V to 230 V on a Ingersol Rand Compressor motor # 32036006 and I cant get it to start it turns real slow is this supposed to have some sort of a motor starter capicitor set up ?

Recheck the way you have the motor leads hooked up, make sure they are correct. You did re connect the motor leads didnt you? You are not trying to run it on 230v single phase are you? Assuming it is a dual voltage motor, the leads will have to be re connected from hi voltage to lo voltage. Also when you cut the operating voltage in half the operating current(amps ) will double, all this info should be on the motor name plate. This motor does not use a capicitor to start it

Ingersol T30 won't shut off and blows pressure release valve

the wire juction box on your compressor has a pressure switch that may be wound in to tight take the cover off the box there should be a switch with a machine screw with nut and washer and spring back this nut off and see if that helps if you go to far you just crank it back in until the switch hit although it may be the other way around you may have to tighten to lower the pressure some of them are made that way if this does not solve your problem send me a picture of the switch and can solve it from there
