I have the same problem with several "recently acquired" notebooks. I am not interested in calling the customer support people because I know they ask too many silly questions like when and when and from whom I purchased my notebooks.

How do you master reset pasword on acer aspire one netbook??

Hi, don't worry. windows password unlocker can help you.
Just download it from http://www.passwordunlocker.com/products/wpu.html

There are free methods as well, you can search for them in google. Manual changing of password requires an advance user.

You can also reset your netbook using recovery disk. Please see this: http://www.ehow.com/how_5833609_restore-acer-aspire-one-series.html

To reset your bios password please refer to either one:
!BIOS - is a PC BIOS toolkit offering password removal/decrypt and BIOS settings modification/backup/restore.

CmosPwd - Cmos password recovery tools

Please let me know if it was helpful.

Thanks

I forget bios pasword my acer travelmate 2420, i need remove the pasword

Though this may not be exactly your computer, the following visual steps will help you. All you need to do, is remove the Nickel sized battery, that is on the main board. Leave it removed for at least 3 minutes.
Place battery back into the main board, and reassemble computer.
This will most likely be the only way to solve this.

How to Disable Acer Travelmate 240 BIOS Password?

Hi,

To disable the bios password on your laptop, you will need to remove the cmos battery on your laptop for some minutes and insert back, the cmos battery is located on the motherboard of your laptop, once the cmos battery is removed from the motherboard for some minutes, the bios password will be reset, and the bios password will be disable.

Take care.

Same problem but have got acer travelmate 4150

Check on motherbord again you can find cmos cell it is look like round battery cell.
Then pull it for 10 minutes so all bios settings are defaults.
Also you can clear bios with jumper find jumper on motherbord it has 3 -pin 1-2-3 right now jumper is in 1-2 position set it to 2-3 position so your bios is clear. Then again set it to it's original position.
then it not ask for password.
Let me know if you need more assistance.
Thanks.

I give up

Reset Your CMOS Battery... You will have to access the CMOS battery on the motherboard of the laptop...... and Pull it out for a good 5 minutes... (with some motherboards you will also have to short out the J1 Jumper pin... to do this use needle nose pliers and touch one end to the J1 pin and the other to the post sticking out of the motherboard which is your ground.then press the Power on and back off quickly.)..
Once the CMOS resets.. you should be rid of the password option...
