Question about SanDisk Sansa View 8GB MP3 Player - Black

1 Answer

Sansa View has a "ink blot" graphic and a white background when I turn it on.

I turned on my Sansa View today in the morning and it shows a blank background with a ink blot graphic in the bottom right corner. It doesn't function at all either. It just stays frozen everytime I turn it on. What should I do in order for it to work properly again?

The same thing happened to mine yesterday. Have you guys tried returning it yet? I want to try, but I have a sneaking suspicion they won't cover this, or atleast they'll find a way to blame it on us. Tell me me if you find anything.

Sansa Views are POSs. I bought an 8GB one for my daughter in Nov 07, and the screen went white a year later...SanDisk techical support failed to provide a workable fix for it over the phone or by email, and they didn't have any idea why it had failed. I bought a 16GB for myself Feb 08, and in less than a week the screen locked up. Took it back to Best Buy for a replacement, which worked fine until today...Now the screen looks like some kind of black and white abstract painting. As far as I am aware we have not abused these players in any way. Haven't contacted SanDisk yet, but I bet they won't be of any help. If I were you, I would accept that your investment ($400 for me between the two players) is lost, give up and go to an Apple product. My son's 40GB iPod (using a mechanical drive) has lasted for 2 1/2 years with no issues at all. That said, if anyone has any idea why this has happened and can give me some ideas on how to fix it I would be grateful. Thx.

My printer will scan, copy, fax but will not print

You only said it does not print but didn't say whether it actually goes through the motions of printing but turns up a blank document.

If that is the case you should try this.

Ink may be new, but their nuzzles may be blocked; depending on manner of storage. To be sure apply a folded tissue paper to the ink nuzzle and press firmly. If the tissue comes off well blotted with ink it means you still have a good amount of ink in it and the nuzzle is not blocked. If not blotted or scantily blotted, it means ink is really low or nuzzle is blocked. To be very sure of this, place nuzzle in a plate/saucer with a bit water so that the nuzzle is soaked. Leave for about 10 minutes. Then apply the tissue again. If still not well blotted it means ink is really low or empty. In the case of blocked nuzzles, the procedure may be repeated over to get results.

Not printing

When a printer goes through the motions of printing bt delivers a blank paper, it is indicative of blocked nuzzles. Ink may be new, but their nuzzles may be blocked; depending on manner of storage. To be sure apply a folded tissue paper to the ink nuzzle and press firmly. If the tissue comes off well blotted with ink it means you still have a good amount of ink in it the nuzzle is not blocked. Leave for about 10 minutes. Then apply the tissue again. If still not well blotted it means ink is really low or empty. If new you should return it for a replacement. In the case of blocked nuzzles, the procedure may be repeated over to get results.

The faxes coming through are blank pages, I received faxes yesterday but today they are coming through blank and the ink cartridge is brand new.

take the cartridge out and dab it on a paper towel - there should be a dark black solid rectangle of ink - if not the printhead is dry or blocked - if it is dry soak the printhead( the place the ink comes out) in a dish of warm water for 2 or three minutes and try blotting again - if that doesnt solve your problem take the cartridge back to the retailer or refill store you got it from

Blank White Screen - No Menu Showing

My Sansa has a similar problem. Sometimes when the Sansa turns on (after the Sandisk logo) the screen will either turn black, blue, or black and white stripes. The player still works, but it is hard to navigate without the screen, obviously. What I end up doing is letting the backlight turn off and then pressing any button. Sometimes when the screen comes back, the display is allright again. But sometimes it takes more than a few tries. Turning it off and on again seems to work a little better, but it is more time consuming.
