Sound driver not woking proprely

first make sure you have the proper drivers from the manufacturer, don't download some scam driver from some unknown web site, always go the OEM web site. the best way to insure proper driver installation is to remove the device from the system using device manager. if it asks to remove the device drivers as well say yes. reboot the system, It should ask for the location of the new drivers, point it to those you downloaded. if your drivers came with a setup file simply cancel the automatic install (if you can) and run the setup.

Sound not coming in win xp sp3 even after updating correct sound driver?

Do you still have the unknown device in device manager? If so, you need to install a different driver. If not, go into device manager, expand Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. For each device under that heading, right-click the device, then click update driver software, choose "Search Automatically..." It will then go to the windows update site and see if there is a driver there that is listed as more recent, and it will install that driver, if such a driver is found. If that doesn't work, make sur ethat y ou manually find the correct sound driver installer, and then right-click whichever device obviously represents the sound hardware driver, and click Uninstall. Reboot afterward. Then reinstall the audio driver. If that doesn't work, you may have to reinstall windows.

Tulip driver prob

Dude

A lot of linux distribution comes with a modified driver that does not work in many cases. If you find that your card does not work, it's very likely that this is the cause. To correct this, you will have to download and compile the driver from Scyld.com The mailing list is also very useful. The original writer of the drivers, Donald Becker is usually there to help answer your questions.
In Ubuntu Linux (6.10 and 6.06), the Tulip driver causes lockups during the installation routine. However, once Ubuntu is installed the Tulip driver works properly. Quite a strange problem.
If the above does not work, and you are using a Cardbus PCMCIA card, then it may be the following problem:

DX-UBDB9 Driver

I have the answer on how to get this to work.
First follow the instruction on this web site (http://www.security-hacks.com/2007/05/07/vista-disable-driver-signing-verification-in-64-bit) on how to turn off driver signing verification.

Second download the vista driver from http://www.cooldrives.com/wividrforprc.html and install it.

It worked under Vista and Windows 7.
