Question about Maytag MDE9700AYW Neptune 174 Electric Dryer
My dryer won't spin and timer keeps going through the cycle but nothing happens. There is no error code that lights up. I can hear a hum that engages for about 3 second and then goes off when I press the start button, but then it goes away. Can you help?
There is really only one way to put the belt on. Pinch it and loop it around the tension pulley and then slip it over the motor pulley. If the belt is not off, it may be a loose wire to the sensor that switches the dryer off when the belt is off or broken. Mine had that problem. If that doesn't work you will have to replace the tension pulley sensor.

Remove the screws from the bracket from the vent tube at the back of the dryer.
You can access the belt from there.
If the belt is off then the tensioner will push a switch to shut the dryer down.
Just hook the belt back on or replace the belt whatever needs to be done.
See other posts for this model number on how to connect the belt back if it came off.
They do that when turned the wrong direction.
