Hold the select button and the menu at the same time until you see the screen go off.
If still does not work then try to enter disk mode and see if it works.
Disk Mode: Reboot
the ipod via Select and menu, right away hold the select and play
button and hold until disk mode comes on. Does the wheel work?
still does not work then reboot the ipod again and let it reboot normal
to go back in apple firmware. If all buttons are working and none of
the above works, I would assume it is not software related.
I just encountered the exact same problem with my mp3 player. It is the 2nd time that this has happened to me. I have taken it back to the store both times and they have given me a new one. They keep telling me that illegally downloaded music will cause it to crash but i only had CDs on there. I guess i dont have a real solution other than taking it back and hoping for one that works.
