You don't need drivers to use this cd dvd burner in Windows 7 because they are built into Windows. If the device isn't working, it probably isn't any good.

They can still get power depending on the issue with the motherboard.

You should try:

Resetting the memory
Booting with only one memory stick
Booting with the hard drive out
Booting with the battery and cd / dvd drive removed.

If none of those work then the motherboard is probably toast :(

You won't find internal room to place a second hard drive, if that's what you're asking. Most laptops simply do not have the internal space, especially thin-line units.

What you could do for extra storage space is purchase an external drive.

some drives ( multi-Drives ) will read and write CDs but Only read DVDs.
Also check that the Drive supports DVD- Or DVD+ Disks.
Check that there are no yellow Marks In The Device Manager. to Do this:- My Computer/Control Panel/System/Device Manager to ensure all drivers are corectly installed.
