Question about Mitsubishi WT-42311 42" Rear Projection Television

Mitsubishi WT42311 Convergence IC replacements didn't work

The horizontal red lines on my 42" tv won't line up. It will let me adjust the vertical lines left and right, but not the horizontal line. My tv wasn't moved or dropped but I did smell a slight hint of something burning the first time this problem surfaced. We did replace both convergence IC's and the it didn't correct the problem.

Any suggestions what the next step might be? Thanks in advance for your help.

It was helpful but I found the ERROR AMP 110V/20mA had gone out. I replaced it and the TV would turn on for a few minutes and then shut off, if I immediately turned it on it would shut off in a few seconds. The picture wasn't as good either.

I did replace the 5 amp pico fuses even though they seemed fine on my multi meter and now the tv won't power up. Clicks on and off almost instantly.

    Any other tips? Thanks again.

Same problem except I can not adjust red convergence left or right, only up and down. I installed both IC's STK392-110 with new and no change. Sounds like one solution will solve both of our problems.

    Thanks, Dale

I had the exact same problem. I went to TVrepairkits.com and bought the kits for about $60. I bought both a desoldering and soldering iron at RadioShack.

KEY: The entire chasis slides out of this baby, held in by 6 screws! This made it hugely convenient to locate the convergence chips and have access without virtually any additional assembly.

I was getting ready to remove the convergence chips when I noticed a bad solder on one pin. I figured this might be the problem as vibration had temporarily fixed it in the past. The resoldered that one pin and re-assembled.

Fixed! Set works great again.

How to set convergence on Projection TV ' s

I have given an general explanation on most projection TV ' s

  1. Enter the menu on your TV. Use the remote control and bring up the menu.
  2. Choose "Convergence." This may be under "Picture Settings," "Function" or "Advanced Options."
  3. Select a color. You will have red, green and blue to choose from. Do each one, starting with red.
  4. Press "Enter." A crosshair pattern will appear on your screen.
  5. Adjust vertically. If there is a horizontal red line visible, press the up or down arrow keys (or channel up or down) to adjust the convergence until the line is superimposed on the horizontal-center line of the white crosshair.
  6. Adjust horizontally. If there is a vertical red line visible, press left or right (or volume up or down) to adjust horizontally. Do this until the line is superimposed on the vertical line of the white crosshair.
  7. Save settings. It is important to save your settings when you are done, instead of simply exiting the menu.
  8. Repeat these steps for all colors.

My tv has many lines in the screen. what kind of problem is this and what does it need to be fixed?

You may be suggesting a convergence problem..when the blue and red boxes will not center. You have bad grounds on the convergence ICs. Resolder or replace theses ICs. Or you may be asking about a problem in the vertical section. Vertical problems will appear as horizontal lines on the TV. In this case you have bad capacitors near ithe vertical IC and must also resolder or replace the vertical IC.

Can't control red convergence on VS-45607

The STKs are three channel ICs they each control horizontal and vertical of one color the third channel controls part of green and the other half of green is controled by the other ICs third channel. Its customary for the Ics to fail and only have one channel bad in the IC. However its recomended to change both because of the bad Ic having green it can actually weaken the other IC and that one will fail shortly.

This is for a different model, but I had thin horizontal lines in red and had to adjust the tube for red. You may have a similar adjustment on your set.

How to adjust the green convergence?

Hi, If the green crosshatch lines are bent or curved then you have an IC failure, Green is the reference so it can`t be adjusted with your remote, the correct procedure is to move the red and blue on top of the green to make the crosshatch white, As I said if the green horizontal or vertical lines are not perfectly straight then it needs repair not adjustment, BMW Rider
