Question about Mitsubishi WT-42311 42" Rear Projection Television
The horizontal red lines on my 42" tv won't line up. It will let me adjust the vertical lines left and right, but not the horizontal line.
My tv wasn't moved or dropped but I did smell a slight hint of something burning the first time this problem surfaced. We did replace both convergence IC's and the it didn't correct the problem.
Any suggestions what the next step might be? Thanks in advance for your help.
I had the exact same problem. I went to TVrepairkits.com and bought the kits for about $60. I bought both a desoldering and soldering iron at RadioShack.
KEY: The entire chasis slides out of this baby, held in by 6 screws! This made it hugely convenient to locate the convergence chips and have access without virtually any additional assembly.
I was getting ready to remove the convergence chips when I noticed a bad solder on one pin. I figured this might be the problem as vibration had temporarily fixed it in the past. The resoldered that one pin and re-assembled.
Fixed! Set works great again.
