Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition

When I try to download something from a website, all of my windows close before I can accept the download

I have had this problem since I was forced to upgrade to Window's Vista, and basically, whenever I try to close one window, all of the windows close, and when I try to download a driver, or an upgrade from a website, the Pop up window to accept the download pops up, and before I can accept it, all of the windows close.

    Hi diffbrook,

I would like clarify the issue you are having. Are you referring to a multiple opened windows application? or just an internet explorer window with multiple tabs.

If you are reffering to a multiple opened windows in which you encountered an issue when closing one of this application. This issue could relate to a virus, malware or spyware. You may try downloading some anti spyware or anti malware to check if that resolves the problem. You may also scan your system for viruses using your antivirus.

Let me know if you need those application.

    Thanks

You may try downloading some anti spyware or anti malware to check if that resolves the problem. You may also scan your system for viruses using your antivirus.

In addition to that you may also use the following steps below.

1. insert windows vista disc
2. Click on the start button on the screen
3. Go to "start search" above the start button on the screen
4. Type the command cmd
5. A command prompt screen will show up then type this command on the blinking cursor.

sfc /scannow

After the the scan test repair. Restart the system. Keep me posted.

Thanks

In case the repair won't work and the antivirus and antimalware can't find any virus issue. Try creating a different user account. If you can't find a problem in the new account you created then it is an issue with the account you are using.

- If you were force to upgrade your windows to vista, I thinks some of the drive are realy compatible on your system.
- You may want to run windows update service pack 1 , It might help you resolved some of the issue.
-Give me more some details of your issue (error-pop-ups, bluescreen)

I can't close a dialogue box in Word. Neither clicking OK or closing works. It just reappears.

Save your work and close the program. If you have to force it closed it should "recover" the document on reopening.
If you cannot force it closed, shut down the PC and restart, then reopen Word.
If the PC will not shutdown due to the persistant window requiring a response, then hold the power button down till it forces the PC off. Approx 5 seconds.
When you restart, you may get an unusual startup options screen, just choose "Start normally"

If you continue to have similar issues scan for malware. You may have picked up an intrusive script in a document. Try Malware Bytes (google it) as a good tool for this.
Would not hurt to go to www.windows.com and look for the update Office area, apply the updates. Most are security related.

first thing you need to check is the device manager. gp tp start right click on my computer > select properties > click on the hardware tab and click on device manager > from the list of devices simply expand and verify if the audio device is ok or not, if its not then just reinstall the driver which you can download from the computer manufacturer's website. for adobe issue, if having problem downloading it yes you may temporarily disable your antivrus if its being disabled and still experiencing the same problem you may try to close all browser that are open then click on start control panel set teh view to claassic > click on the internet options > go to advance tab > click on reset on the bottom and another reset button after that. reopen the browser and try going to adobe.com again to check if your can now download the flash plugin. hope that helps

Is your firewall blocking blocking the website? If your are using any antivirus program bundled with "internet security" probably the firewall is blocking the java site. You have to make exclusion in the fiewall setting for the "http" site.
