Hello Churen,
If the everything powers on when you push the power button and the optical reader laser is not coming on, then I am sorry to say that this is a serious problem. The optical reader assembly is one of the most expensive parts to replace or work on. If you do not see the laser when you load a disc while you have the cover off, then that means there is a problem with this component and the cheapest solution is to trash it and buy a new player. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but please do not take my word for it call around and get some free quotes from local repair shops and do some research online.

If you do not mind, please rate my help. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

My sylvania portable DVD player won't read discs the display says No Disc after the spin. What do I do?

I had same problem with a sylvania portable DVD: no disc. After cleaning the laser didn't work, I took the unit apart, and found that there is a small gear that moves the laser back and forth across the disc.. The gear could easily be misaligned with a rough bump along the drive.. All I did was realign the gear to the center where the disc was. Inside, there was even a small lever to pull back on to do this.. I also noticed a small Ribbon cable connecting the laser to the main board. Again, seemed nimble. I detached the ribbon, cleaned the connectors with alcohol and reattached. Happy to say, it works perfectly now. :). Good luck.

Player reading invalid disc and disc is not spinning

My dual screen dvd player was reading invalid disc and disc was not spinning. Took player completely apart and white gears had dirt in them. This was preventing the player from spinning. Used dust remover and cleaned the whole inside and now it works great.

Unable to read disc;cleaned the lens but just says "loading. . ." on screen.

The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, overtime the laser becomes weaker until it can no longer read the disc. Unfortunately the only option is to replace the DVD player, because the cost to repair will greatly exceed the price of a new one.

It won't play ANYTHING!

Unfortunately, the lasers can eventually fail in all DVD players. Sometimes they just get too dirty with oils, dust, and hairs, to read the data. Especially if it's a child putting the DVD's in and they aren't cleaned properly before putting them in the player.

The only thing I can recommend at this point is to try a commercial cleaning disc. You can find them by searching "Laser Disc Cleaner". For $20 or so, you may be able to clean the lens enough to get the unit working again. However, if the laser has failed and is "burned out" then you might as well scrap the player. Or possibly take it apart if you really want to keep it and pull the DVD drive out and replace it. Or take it to a repair shop if it makes financial and logical sense to you.

Good luck!

Toshiba Flat screen VCR/DVD combo DVD doesn't work

that means that the DVD player was unable to read the disk .. that could be caused by dust on the laser inside the unit .. or it could be that your laser is just getting weak ... you can purchase a cleaning disk (a few dollars) it has some little brushes mounted on it that sweep away stuff on the laser .. unless its smoke .. smoke has to be professionally cleaned off the laser or you can do it if you are brave enough to take everything apart .. i use lens cleaning solution..

DVD player

My Smasung DVD/VCR Combo stopped reading DVDs because of a dirty read head. It started by only playing disks sometimes, and progressed to never playing disks. I assumed it was a dirty laser lens so I bought a lens cleaner set. Unfortunately my player wouldn't play the cleaner disk.

So I took it apart and cleaned the laser lens manually with some isopropyl alcohol (the clenser that came with my cleaning disk), and a lens cloth (that came with my glasses). Just open the case (starting with the screws in the back) and remove the snap in cross panel that obscures the lens of the DVD portion. Put a drop of cleanser on the lens and gently wipe it with the cloth.

Oh and by the way, I take no responsibility if you break your own player while following my instructions. My own DVD player was far out of warranty at the time I cracked it open.

I had the same problem twice now, I am on here looking for replacement parts this time. The last time I had this problem I took the VCR apart and found a small round piece just floating around inside the case. I took out the DVD player and placed the small round piece back on the small silver post in the middle of the DVD player angled side up. Hope this helps. This time it’s something different for me.

Dvd player not working

If the disc isn't spinning, and you have cleaned the lens (using a proper method) then it is likely that the laser has failed. The disc usually won't spin until the laser has sent/recieved a pulse from the surface of the disc. A new laser is usually about the cost of a new player.

Portable DVD player won't read discs.

There are 2 errors, ho3 and ho2, I can't remember which one is which. One means the laser is going and one means it's a dirty track. I suggest you first very gently clean the lens. If that doesn't work you take apart the player and clean the whole track that the laser moves on along with everything around it (keeping in mind that the laser is fragile). If that doesn't work than I can't help anymore without seeing it.

Disc loads but player displays No Disc message

If you cleanred the optics and this didnt help then you did all you can do without more test equipment. Your player might need an focus or tracking offset alighnment or a focus or tracking gain alighnment or the unit could have a defective laser. Only by connecting it up to test equipment will a tech be able to tell.
