I cannot get a picture from my BD player through the Sony Receiver and onto a projector. I get sound, but no picture. I am able to use other input sources (Xbox and Cable Box - both HDMI) through the receiver to the projector with no problems. Also, if I connect my Bravia TV to the receiver, I am able to get a picture from the BD player. I can also get a picture if I run an HDMI cable straight from the BD player to the projector, so it seems the issue is running the BD player through the receiver, to the projector. All input sources as well as output to TV/Projector are HDMI. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks.

As dumb as this sounds here is the mistake Sony made. The receiver does not process sound from the HDMI, it will only pass through that data to you TV. So you will not be able to get sound from your 5.1 speaker setup if you only connect the HDMI, you have to use the matching audio input for that respective HDMI input. Make sense? So the HDMI DVD Input must have digital coax for sound, HDMI Video2 must have fiber optic for sound, and there is another fiber optic port for the Sat input. Yes thats right, if you have 2 HDMI HD components and each only has fiber optic(neither one has digital coax) you cant hook both up properly the way you would think. Sony made this receiver poorly, turning High Definition Multimedia Interface into High Definition Multimedia Except For Audio Interface.

Yes - PS3 with a HDMI cable for picture, Fiber Optic for sound, Wii use either component or composite cables, and PC use the left and right jacks.

hi my names josh your feeds arent going to feed out through that hdmi if your have hdmi coming in you will get that signal going out however depending on what your signal source is for the rest of your compenents that will determine your problem for instance if you if your runing all compenent which y p b or video which is just standard yellow red and white cables you have to stay with one or the other what you go into your reciever with you must go out with if analog wich is just video and audio you have to go out through your monitor out source to get a picure if compenent whic by the way will produce a far greater picture it is your y p and b jacks and the color of those are green blue and red those are just for picture only not audio you have to still run audio with these cables you go in the unit with those you have to go out with those directly to your tv then you want check you reciever video setting to make sure it is set for that and well as your tv to make sure you are in the right monitor or screen to get your picture
Testimonial: "Okay, thank you Josh. Your message is difficult to read. Short complete sentences would make your solution clearer but I believe I understand. Thx."

This receiver does not support audio via HDMI. You need to connect BD player via spdif cable. Use optical or coax depending on what does the BD player support - receiver supports both.

Tell us more details about the two pairs of speakers and exactly where they're attached. You may have a dangerously LOW impedance load if you're running them together (parallel). Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on. Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up. You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it. If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good. If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech. Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.
