I uploaded the latest updates for the Garmin Nuvi 260.
I also touched the message screen with "No detailed maps found that support routing." about 100 times with no result.

I found the solution in Garmin's FAQ's. The map unlock file wasn't loading (gmapprom.unl).

Here's where the solution is located:

I suspect the long delay occurred after a firmware update. Sometimes the Nuvi's memory needs to cleared after a firmware upgrade that changed the address map. Please backup any user waypoints and custom POI then:
just do a hard reset..push and hold the reset button on the back of unit just under your open antenna.

how to get to a system info/diagnostics screen set for Nuvis
When you're at the main screen, hold your finger on the time in the upper right corner for more than 5 seconds, and you'll get to an info screen, and back/next buttons lower right of screen.
There's some sound diagnostics, and screen tests, and lots of info pages - including one with some battery status/statistics. To get out of the diagnostic mode, power cycle your unit...and when you do this, it will take some time to lock on to satellites.

go to this link and check the procedure of making your garmin device proper as it will definately work.the persons facing the same problem like you got it fixed and you can also fix.
just click this link

Try resetting the device. the outer panel that goes around the screen should lift off and a reset button will be found underneath. Try pressing the button and then redownloading the maps and let me know how that goes

Well, since you seem to be missing the gmapprom.img file which is the pre-installed detail map file and since you don't have a backup file, Tech Support is your only option. They will likely have to send you a disk with the maps for you to reload them. The maps are too large for downloading via the internet. (Hopefully, they won't ask you to send the unit to them.)
Note to all users:
1. Before doing anything on your unit, BACK UP the entire thing to your computer. It will take 30 - 45 minutes or so, but as you can see, it's worth it.
2. Before deleting or otherwise manipulating ANY files on your Garmin unit, BE SURE that you know exactly what those files are.
Simply loading and unloading Custom POIs with POI Loader will not delete the map files on your GPS unit. This is something that the user does, albeit most likely inadvertently. Having a backup is your extra protection, but still users should be sure that that they know which files are which.

No detailed maps found that support routing

Please connect your Nuvi up to a PC and look to see if you have the map file "gmapprom.img" in the Garmin directory. The file should be around 1.5 to 2 GB in size. If the file is missing you will need to replace it. If you have registered your unit with Garmin, you may be able to log into your Garmin account and download the map file again. If you can't, then you will need to send the unit to have the map file restored by a service shop. More info on missing maps can be found here:
