SOURCE: Venturer Portable DVD Player, twin 8" Screens, PVS6988

I manage to get the manual from Venturer. Google it. I am in UK and I have to phone them and than get them to send the manual by pdf to my email address. No charge. Easy.
The older ones are not on their listing.
If you have any problem come back to me and I will look it up for you.

SOURCE: Hello - I have rented

Hello!
I'm a bit confused.. what is not working? the whole venture unit? or just the dvd not playing the disc?

If its the DVD player not playing the disc, I advise you clean the lens of the player? You could use an ordinary lens cleaner that you can buy from any video store..

But, I do recommend you self clean the lens with a cotton bud moistened with alcohol. It's much better for cleaning the lens. You'll just need to open the cover of the player to access the mechanical loading disc tray where the lens is located.

No picture on dvd player but can hear sound

Usually this is a bad inverter. The best way to check this is to hold the unit up to a very bright light and see if there is a ghost of am image visible and moving, just not bright enough to be seen properly. This means that the display is working, but the flourescent display behind it is not being powered properly, and most LCD displays require a little inverter board to convert the native DC power to AC to light the backlight. inverter boards are cheap if you can find the proper one for your unit. Unfortunately some units have the inverter board integrated into the motherboard of the player, though that is rare. It should be a separate (and thus replacable) component. Good luck!

The only "kill switch" I am aware of is the switch on the DVD compartment door. I don't have your exact model but, on my model, this switch is activated when the door covering the DVD is closed and deactivated when this door is opened (kills the DVD spin and reading laser). Look for a small square hole in the DVD player deck and a corresponding raised piece of plastic on the DVD door.

Good luck!

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, could be:
  • cable/connector problem;
  • 12VDC power supply/regulator;
  • monitor itself. Could be tested with another external video source and a shorter RCA to RCA cable.
Check and perform preliminary visual or necessary inspection. Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
