While you have it in safe mode, make sure you back up all your personal data to a cd as is sounds like it is not going to last much longer. After you back up all your information....Documents, Pictures, Music...etc... Then I would reformat the machine with the original installation disc that came with the computer. That should fix the problem. Never even heard of a boot processor :)

Yes I would try to format the machine again. When you say that the IT guy told you there was a problem with the boot processor, I am guessing that he meant to say boot process, which is just a setting in the bios that tells the machine which order to boot from such as boot from cd or boot from hard drive. If you are able to format the machine from the CD then it sounds like it is booting in the proper order. Are you using XP home edition? Try the format again and then let me know what happens.

    Thanks

Can't get Toshiba Satellite L775 to boot past "windows is loading files" screen

I assume you are doing a System Restore/Recovery? Have you removed the HDD and tested it? Perhaps the Recovery files are corrupt/missing? A bit more info needed.

Hi! I've got a Toshiba Satellite L300 and it won't boot anymore. I get past the initial toshiba-screen where I can press F2 and F12 but afterwards there's just a black screen with a little...

You can retrieve your data by removing the hard drive and connecting it to an USB hard drive adapter then plug it into the USB port of a working computer. This computer will see this as an external storage device, you can then open the various folders and files to back up your data.
You can then return the hard drive back into the Toshiba then format the hard drive and reinstall Windows to get your Toshiba working again.
You can download thedevice drivers for your model laptop from the Toshiba WEB site from theirdownload page. Make sure you enter the model of your laptop so you can get thecorrect drivers. I take it you see the hard drive when you boot to vista cd. doing install can you remove partition and then create new partition format and install vista software. have you tried that if so sounds like your hard drive is working and can delete and reset drive partition index. if your crashing in post then you need to push the tab key when toshiba logo appears should switch showing post BIOS boot on screen all text you should try pressing the setup key as soon as you see the num loc light blink on your keyboard the driver is loaded press f2 then tab key to check post boot.
please let me if this helped you.
