Turned TV on today and there is a blank picture (like picture within a picture), but is not the one the cable system provides. TV worked perfect last night. This small rectangular screen (8inches by 8 inches) is there no matter whether I try DVD, cable, or onair TV. I am assuming someone changed the settings. I have tried powering down everything....but can not figure out where the settings might be for this. Any ideas

Click here to find info the user's guide and how to turn close caption OFF. Download all the files and and you should find the info on page #19 but you will need to have the TV remote control or if your TV has a menu/set up button on the front panel, you can try to get to close caption using the channel up/down and volume up/down.

hour. Tried switching off both cable box and TV, disconnecting and
reconnecting cables, but no luck. Finally unplugged mains, waited a
minute, then turned back on. Everything seems normal now after the
Can you take a picture of the screen and post it? It is not possible for both the horizontal and vertical stages to fail at the same time to produce a cross. A picture of the screen would help significantly.
Check first for bad solder on the vertical IC, Im not sure for your set as I do not have the service manual, but it may be location IC301. If after resoldering it does not fix it you may have to replace it and you should replace the electrolytic capacitors in the vertical section.
Hope this helps.
