Question about HP Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

HPofficejet Pro K5400 will not print when programed. HP tech. # 801 696 4461 gave up after 2 hours. The tech who continued the process just gave me this info and hung up. The printer is no good to me if it cannot be made operable. The dealer will not accept it as a return because it has been one month since purchase. What do I do with the product?? The Vista Program seems to be a problem!!!My investement in a new tower or computer and a printer that doesn't work is a chunk of change from my budget. I need the equipment to function well but if it cannot be resolved I will have to look for a new unit that is a dissapointment because this HP system is excellent when it works.

I worked with the tech on line for about 2 hours. It was late at night and he turned me over to another young lady. We got cut off that evening and the next day she called me back and we continued to work on the problem. After 2 more hours of going up and down and left and right we decided to move one of the connections to another location on the tower. This move was the solution to the glitzt that made a printing mode become possible. From that point it has been functioning perfectly. So I thank you for taking the time to help me.
Sincerely ference 136

Is the green light on my Office jet k5400 suppose to be blinking?

Hello,

the green light on your printer can be blinking, here are the causes:
  • The printer is either turning on or off.
  • The printer is processing a print job.
  • The printer is paused while the ink dries.
Just try to wait for a while, and it should be all right again.

Black ink not printing properly on HP Officejet Pro K5400. It's a new cartridge, have tried another cartridge too but same problem.

The print head may be blocked.
Run the cleaning cycle a few times on the machine.
This can be done through the software drivers loaded on your computer.
If this does not help, you will need to replace the black print head.

A white line approx every 21mm through black writing

There is a clean prinhead utility in the windows driver.
1. From the printers and faxes window right click on the K5400 icon and select properties.
2. Select the printing preferences then features tab then the services tab.
3. Click clean printheads.

The printer will go through a printhead cleaning process. When its done check the print quality again. If the quality does not improve I would recommend replacing the HP 88 Black and yellow printhead part# C9381A which is user replaceable and comes with install instructions.

On HP K5400 printer the Left margin for #10

See an online manual with instructions to change the print settings here., then open the document program that has the addresses in it and use the print preview and page setup to adjust the margins for the printing to 1/4', if they'll go down that low.

Printer light is blinking

When something like that happens with ours, we can usually just power it off and then back on to fix the problem. If that doesn't work, try unplugging it for a couple of minutes and then plugging it back in.
