After plugging the hdmi cable, we have the sound but no video

Some ideas:
  • Make sure the correct input is selected for your display device.
  • You may need to change the video out setting on your video source device (Blu Ray player, cable box, etc) to turn on the HDMI output port. See the video source's manual.
  • Devices connected to HDMI are sometimes picky about the order they turn on. Try turning off the video source and video device, then turn on the video source, wait a few seconds, then turn on the display. If that doesn't work, try reversing the order that they are turned on. If this is the problem, you can buy a universal remote, like the Harmony, that will start devices in a specified order.

Possible that the processor is not working. So check on the +5 voltage to the processor IC , if this is absent then power supply is faulty.
If not the mother board can be faulty. Try and see if the board can be switched and confirmed.

You may want to load the update to a CD and try it. The web site should have good instruction on either load device. I had to go to my System Setup on the TV screen to make it work.

Doesn't show anything on TV

I am sure that your cables are connected correctly. If they are your TV and DVD/VCR palyer has to be on the same function. i.e. aux on the newer TV's or channel 2 or 1 on the older models. THis is a easy fix and this will start you on the right track.

Remote Control will not work with Pioneer V8000 DVD Player

I had a similar problem with a remote that failed. If you have a camcorder or digital camera that you can operate in video mode, you can point the remote toward the camera, press buttons on the remote, and see the infrared flashing through the camera. See the video below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlTIrVQjaY8

If you have a working remote for some other device, try it first so you know what to expect. If the Pioneer Remote doesn't show activity, it must be replaced. If it does, the problem may be in the DVD player.

Good luck!

Dvd or cd shows loading but doesn't do anything else

Hello,

The reading lense may be dirty or need replacing. Try purchasing a DVD cleaner (a CD with a small brush on it, e.g. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_11?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=dvd+cleaner&x=0&y=0&sprefix=dvd+cleaner )

If this doesn't work then the reading lense may need to be replaced. I'd recommend taking the player back to the store and asking if they can repair or replace it for you.

If you select Progressive Scan and your television doesn?t support it, you may end up with a blank screen and be unable to view the menu in order to fix it. If that happens, fix it by turning the DVD player off then back on. Open the disc tray, then press and hold the STOP button for five seconds.
