Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Whirlpool LA6800XSNO won't spin

All other functions, including agitate and drain, are fine. At first I thought it was a belt, but this model is direct drive. A technician mentioned a solenoid, but none of the breakout drawings I've seen shows any solenoids. There was a very faint smell of overheated electrical (motor, probably) when the drum should have been spinning. Of course, I had depressed the lid safety switch.

Might be time for a new washer if this is complicated; this one worked perfectly until its 21st birthday last month. Hmmm.

I never posted a problem about a Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P. My model is LA6800XSNO, a completely different product that is 21 years old..

The service manual I purchased with the washer is completely wrong as well - the manual is for a belt drive model and this washer is a direct-drive model. Thanks, retailer; wish I could remember who you are.

There is supposed to be a solenoid, or as Whirlpool calls it a "control magnet" for the spin cycle. This part is not shown in any online parts breakdown online. The part is probably not available.

Here's how I solved the problem: I tossed the Whirlpool washing machine out the side door and sent my wife off to find a new one. It won't be a front-loading Whirlpool, because I don't need my clothes stinking of mold. I'd like to save water and electricity, but not at the cost of spending over $1,000 for a machine that doesn't do its basic job.

It won't be a Maytag because Maytag is very proud of not offering service manuals. As much as I hate GE (because of their **** refrigerators with always fail compressors and never-work icemakers) we'll probably end up with another top loader, maybe a GE.

HERE'S THE SOLUTION: POLLUTE THE LANDFILL WITH ANOTHER JUNK APPLIANCE THAT CAN'T BE REPAIRED.

How do i fix a Whirlpool stylemaster 4217141 REV A whose cycle is not completing and that will not spin the tub or drain.

No spin, try these:

Using a multi meter check for continuity the door switch, which when bad may not allow agitation or spin. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically.

Check the clutch, brake assembly and transmission, one way to check for slipping is to get under the machine after a spin cycle ( this is if u get a lil spin but not much leaving clothes still wet) mix in a spray bottle a lil water and some dish detergent, then spray it on the clutch assembly ( the metal round pc. Connected to the tranny) if it sizzles and steams up then u know its bad and slipping. Another way to check clutch if u get no spin at all? Is to take it out and use ur hand to try and turn the inner spring assembly pushing it around the inside? If its very easy, it BAD should be hard to push by hand.

Next check the motor coupler which engages the tub and tranny to the motor. ( if its bad u usually get no wash or spin or very little of either)

Next check for a loose, worn or broken belt if belt driven.

On some front load models u may need to check the STATOR assembly.
The stator is essentially one half of a motor, it interacts with the tub by creating a strong electro-magnet. If the stator burns out the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the stator for continuity. This part is often misdiagnosed.

I have a whirlpool washer, model lsr7010pq1, and it won't spin on spin cycle. If I give it a spin by hand it will work. Agitation works fine, and the motor is running fine on spin. Could this be a belt...

when it gets to spin try to open and close the lid and see if it engages spin. if so the timer may not be pausing right before spin to allow the gear to drop and engage the spin cycle. it can also be a clutch or trans issue.you have to sit there through rinse and see if it pauses for a second a few seconds after it starts to drain if not it may be the timer which is common if its not pausing

Will not spin on any rinse cycle

Hi, This washer does not have a belt. While the washer is agitating, if you lift the lid will it stop? Some models will agitate but not spin if the lid is up. It sounds to me like the lid switch might be going bad.
If you will get me a model #, I can look this up for you and give you a better idea.

Drum won't spin, drains ok and agitator works fine

http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php This site shows your lid switch. Just enter your model number. The lid switch is the usual suspect for your symptom.

Whirlpool Duet Washer won't spin

Sounds like the whirling noise is the pump, pumping. Does it drain at all? Check the drive belt and make sure that it is not broken. This system uses a drive belt with a clutch system to agitate back and forth. The clutch system could be bad as well.

This might not be a cheap fix, these are the main components of the system

Whirlpool Ultimate Care HD Plus Model #LSR8233EQ0 won't agitate or spin

It sounds like the coupling between the motor and gearbox has worn out. It should cost around $15 plus shipping and handling.
