SOURCE: HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One--Cartridge Error

If a reset hasn't cured this problem you probably need to disassemble the printer and clean the service station and the system board. This normally clear all carriage and cartridge errors, but these machines are quite awkward to take apart.

SOURCE: HP 7310xi: "Remove and Check Printer Cartridge on the right"

Sounds like the carriage is broken on the black side. Pull the cartridge out and take a look at the silver metal piece. Is it loose from the side and if so did it punch a hole in the circuitry that cartridge comes in contact with. If I were a betting man this is probably your problem. You have to replace the whole carriage. This is a pretty common problem with the carriages that use the #96 and #97 cartridges.

mine HP was acting the same way after a jam. I contacted hp and they told me it was a hardware issue and that I would need to purchase a new printer. I found a KB on thier site for this issue. It involved removing both ink carts and then reseting the printer with the ink carts out. it seemed to work.

Error message 49 on my HP CP 2025 (printer shuts itself off and truns itself back on to see error message 49)

Firmware error:
1. Press CANCEL JOB to clear the print job from the printer memory. 2. Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer on. You can try reprinting the job to see if it was a temporary error. 3. If error persists, try printing a job from a different software application. If the alternate job prints, go back to the first application and try printing a different file. (If the message only appears with a certain software application or certainprint job, try upgrading the printer driver and / or firmware.) 4. If the message persists with different software applications and print jobs, disconnect all cables to the printer that connect it to the network or printer. Turn the printer off and delete the print queue. Then reboot printer AND computer, reconnect cables, and try printing again. 6. Remove all EIO devices from the printer (JetDirect cards, hard drives, etc.). If 49 error goes away, turn printer off, re-install EIO devices one at a time, and reboot printer each time to determine which EIO device is failing. 7. If printing still fails with all EIO devices removed, remove all memory DIMMs or third-party DIMMs from the printer. (Do not remove the firmware DIMM-- printer won't function without this installed.) Turn the printer on with DIMMS missing. If the error no longer exists, install each DIMM one at a time, turn printer on, test printer. Replace a DIMM if you determine that it causes the error. 8. Remember to reconnect all cables that connect the printer to the network or computer. 9. If the error persists, replace the firmware DIMM. 10. If error persists, replace the formatter.

If this is a new printer, chances are you may have left a piece of orange tape some where in the printer, otherwise you may have to remove the transfer belt, power the printer on and wait for it to say that it is missing, replace the belt and power on again, should fix it.

I need help Please my printer won't print gettig an error

The error message is related to the card that connects the printer to the network. The card is most likely bad. You may be able to clear the message by turning the machine off for 20-30 min, however this does not always work. If the error persists, you should turn off the machine, remove the card (it is in the back where the cables plug in, it has a connector similar to a large phone cord and can be removed by loosening the two thumb screws and sliding it straight back) and hook the printer directly to the PC with a parallel cable. You can also order a new card (Part#J3113A) online, but it will take some time and needs to be configured after installation.

Hope it helps, good luck to your daughter with her paper!.
