I plugged up my amp correctly any it stays in protect mode no blinking or anything. I checked my ground and power, it was fine. Then I checked my Remote wire it was fine. I then plugged up my sub and it didn't work. I waited the 10 seconds to see if the protect light will change and it didn't. Any advise.

It appears that the amp is going into protect mode. To eliminate external causes, read through the following page. Let me know if you have any other questions.

does the light on the amp change from green to red, or does it just not turn on because what it sound like is the headunit itself is messed up and grounding out with the amp when you switch it.

How to switch protection off (red LED to blue)

The protection light is on indicating a short or over- voltage problem. If you disconnect the speaker leads and the light goes off or green then the problem is a shorted speaker or wiring problem. If the light stays red the problem is inside the amp and it will need service and parts.

On this advice given by skinnman 33, it says "check your ground." How do you do that? I am experiencing the same problem with the led protector light coming on. It will play for about 3 minutes or so and...

When we say, "check your ground" all we mean is to look at the ground wire that connects to the amp and make sure it's adequately grounded. What I do is bolt it to a car seat bolt, that is the best ground you can get(called chasis ground). Try that and if you're still experiencing issues, troubleshoot it by removing one signal wire at a time. signal wires are the speaker and auxillary wires. Sometimes a short on these wires will cause the amp to go into protect mode. If you removed all your signal wires and all you have left on the amp is the remote, power(12volt battery) and the ground and your amp still goes into protect mode, then there's a short in your amp. good luck

Generally a "protect" mode would be triggered by a shorted output (speaker). I would suggest disconnection all of the speakers to see if the red light goes off.

How to change the Red Protect light to Green Power.

If the amp goes into protect mode, it's likely due to shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible problems, read through the following page:

Amp in Protect Mode - Troubleshooting

If the problems are not with the wiring, follow the link at the bottom of the page to the Amplifier Repair Primer page.

Hi i am matt

If the protection LED lights only after the remote voltage is applied (head unit is switched on), the amplifier likely has shorted output transistors. If the protection LED remains lit without remote voltage applied, the amp may have other problems.

Does the protection LED light with no speaker wires connected to the amp and no RCAs plugged into the amp?

Red light

something is shorted in the circuit, or your subs. unhook the subs first and try it again, if it is still in protect then it is most likely the output transistors.

Generally, the power light is green and the protect light is red. If the protect light is on there could be a short in the wiring or there could be an internal fault in the amp.

Disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp and disconnect signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down (goes into protection), the amp likely has blown output transistors.

Mac-505 amp

Disconnect all speaker wires and signal cables from the amp. If it powers up normally (no protect light), the wiring needs to be checked. If it still goes into protect, the amp likely has blown output transistors.
