Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Copying function not working

My Kodak 5500 aio is printing fine from my computer, but when I tried to copy a document, it starts sounding as if it will copy, then sort of churns on until I cancel the job. The feed does not work, neither does it copy from the flat bed. I imagine this is a scanning and faxing problem as well. i should appreciate any help.

Calibration helped up to a point -- as did reinstalling the software. The most awkward thing about this AIO seems to be the firmware which is very fragile.

if using the feeder probably face up as it will likely pull the document in and invert it to lay face down on the scanning glass.

if you lift up the feeder (like lifting the top of a copy machine), then it would be face down on the glass.

there should be an image on the feeder illustrating how the document should be placed - if it looks like a page with lines on it with a bent corner then it is face up.

Download the newest firmware from www.kodak.com. Try reseating the printhead - see user's guide. If that does not work, email or call Kodak AiO tech support.

Printing problem

Since it sounds like you've gone through all the steps to clean the print head, I would suggest trying a new black cartridge. There may be a problem with the one you have.

Scanner

Try scanning from the Kodak AiO Home Center software. If that fails, you should get better feedback. Unfortunately, I have run into this when my ink is low. While it should not matter, is does. Check to see if you need to replace a cartridge.
Good Luck.
