Acer desktop with black screen and line blinking

I'm thinking from what you describe that you are just looking at the cursor blinking in the upper left corner of the screen.
You haven't said what you did or what you are trying to do, but I suggest you turn the computer off (just push the power button in for about 7 seconds) and then restart it after about 15 seconds. If it doesn't start, go through the process again but this time, after you turn it on, tap on the F8 key. Like tap---tap---tap and keep doing that until you get a black screen with a white menu on it. Use your arrow keys to select "repair your computer" that you will see if you are using windows 7.

This should repair you startup problem.

My srceen goes Blank

Hi,

first try booting the laptop and pressing the Fn key with the numerical ( numbered key ) that has a picture of 2 screens on it. This is for booting to an external monitor. you could also try adding an external ( pc monitor ) this will eliminate any motherboard Faults.

Secondly, the graphics chip driver may be corrupt or not installed correctly. if you have a restore cd, you could try booting the laptop, with the cd in the drive.

you can then try, to see if the settings in the bios are all correct, by booting/starting the laptop and pressing esc or F2 or delete immediately as the laptop starts. ** Be-Careful** what you adjust.
My suggestion is to look for. ** default settings tab** or load setup defaults.

these are the obvious things to try, before assuming that you have a faulty graphics chip or motherboard fault.

My acer laptop screen is dark

Hello,

If your laptop screen is dark, it could be the backlight, inverter, or bad lcd. You can test the backlight by starting the laptop and give it a few seconds to load and take the laptop in a dark room and shine a flashlight on the lcd and see if you can see any pictures or icons. If you can, you may just need an inverter to correct the issue, If not, you may need to replace the inverter and lcd both.

If you find that you need parts to correct the issue. I would suggest that you begin with replacing the inverter first, as they are usually less expensive.

If you can supply me with the model number of the specific laptop you are having trouble with and I can try to locate more information on replacing the parts.

Thanks

How to open case on acer 3050

The method I would use is as follows:

Plugged into a power strip that is turned off but plugged into an outlet ( to keep a good ground to discharge ESD to ground), remove all covers and screws from the bottom (keeping all covers and screws in an order that you'll remember to reverse on reassembly), then if the case doesn't separate look for screws on top and sides (may be hidden by rubber plugs, so look closely). Either use a grounding strap to your wrist (especially in cooler drier climates), and or touching the metal on the case frequently to discharge the static electricity accumulated in your body, Then you may be able to get to the fan from the bottom or may have to continue disassembly to get to the fan on the other side (usually called component and solder sides) of the MoBo?
I couldn't/didn't find any pictorials on your particular laptop, and this is just generic information I go by and just My humble opinion on how to go about it, so please keep that in mind. BTW I have opened dozens of laptops over the years with successfully opening repairing and closing all that were worth the effort/cost.
Good luck, and I hope this post helps you.
