I have kenmore coldspot ref. model # 71289100 serial # EL4512383 Mfg. date 11-01 . Freezer on top with ice maker. The freezer is not cold enough to keep the ice from melting in the storage bin. or my food frozen. The vent is not blocked. I turned thermostat to 7 the highest setting did not help. The blower is working but the air coming out is just not cold enough.
We suggest u to perform the following checks to solve ur problem...

SOURCE: We have a Kenmore coldspot
you have a blocked drain.when the machine defrosts the ice melts off the coil and the water drains down to the bottom of the machine where the compressor is and the condenser coil.it gets hot down there and the water evaporates.your drain is blocked and the water isn't making it out of the freezer.take out all the food in the freezer, remove anything else in there and remove the back inside wall of the freezer, unplug it or shut down the control, then with a hair dryer melt all the ice,i use a steemer to clean out the drain but you can use a baster or anything that will blow through or force air down the drain to clean it out.when you think it's clear pour hot water down the drain hole to see if the water goes down the hole,if it does then it's clear if it doesn't keep blowing through the line, when you clear it you can buy a heater, all it is is a piece of metal that raps around the heater, you stick it down the hole so when the heater comes on the metal heats up and the water wont freeze in the drain line.you need like a 6 inch long piece of wire from a cable wire or from a wire that you use to hook up a lite, use the ground wire or the copper piece in the cable or lite wire, strip off the casing and stick the wire down the hole and cut it with enough wire to rap around the heater and this should take care of your blocked drain.a steemer works the best, stick it in the hole and blast the steem down through the drain,it clears everything out of it.good luck

Looks to me your model had the older style ice maker that uses micro-switches to tell what is next in the six parts of one complete cycle. Some times those switch's stick on or off and tend to break. Here is a link to an exploded view=> 5303918344 Ice Maker Exploded View
Let me know if you have any questions so I may help you better, Thanks, Sea Breeze
You can try to disassemble and repair, just be aware that the lever spring will be the hardest part to understand putting back in if you by chance pull the facing off it can jump out of its location giving you hours of fun trying to return to its proper place.
